I look for eddies and mullberry trees for when i want to just sit around and shoot. But just walk the banks in the evening and watch for swirls in the water where the fish are kicking around

I assume you are shooting from the bank and not from a boat???? But very possible there may not be any carp or rough fish in that particular water to shoot,at least at this time of the year maybe. You might have to move around and try other areas. Check google maps for water and other spots around you

 

I find fish in the water typically.

as a matter of fact we are, sun and clouds aren't cooperating, as well as rays so far... Lol

 

Try using Google satellite maps. It won't show you the fish themselves of course but you can tell a lot about areas with it.

 

Chuck posted a google earth pic that clearly showed mud being stirred up by fish. It was a really near pic!

 

I found a farm pond maybe an 1/8 acre in size..outta be loaded with garfish...be back later

 

Unless your in silver carp territory then you gotta look in the air or even in the boat some times. Don't shoot the ones in the boat tho just beat them senseless

 

Use the dnr Lakefinder, so for me it's MN Lake finder, Google whatever state and Lakefinder and if you find a good Lake check it on there so you can see if there any carp in the lake! Good luck
