ok, so its my first fan, never been on a fan boat and im building one, thats just how i roll. im doing a 42" but ive gotta get it up high enough to reach under and drive my tiller outboard. im looking at the platform starting 50" off the bottom of the boat and the top of the shroud will be just a little over 100" tall from the bottom of the boat.
i know theres set-ups that run bigger diameters and are lower. however the tiller calls for a bit more creative engineering. i know i should go as low as possible, as high as necessary. if i go low, ive gotta move it forward 2' so i can stand behind it. i dont think thats a great idea on a 1660. and if i go way back i gotta go higher yet, more like 60" to clear the outboard in all positions.
ive been looking at pix, but its hard to really measure inches from pix. I dont wanna go a high as "Mud's" boat since mine wont be folding down. do any of you think 100-106" would be excessive? THANX.
