How to Fish Waco??

What are the best lakes around Waco? me and my roommate have been out on both Lake Waco and Lake Whitney and every time the water clarity has been awful and not seen a single fish whatsoever. what are some good lakes/rivers in the area. we've tried them all and i guess just haven't been in the right areas because we've been out 6 times this month and not seen a single shootable fish once. not to mention the water level is so incredibly low right now i feel at risk of hitting tree stumps out in the middle of the lake! any information can be rewarded by my very in-depth knowledge of bowfishing Austin lakes/rivers.

My favorite lake near Waco for bowfishing is Lake Aquilla. Lots of carp and gar there. Good places are the coves near where the Old School Ramp is located and the northeast part of the Hackberry Creek area (my favorite for wading the shallows). The Army Corp of Engineers' lake map provides a good source of access points.

Thanks. have you been out there with the recent drought
Since moving from the area, I've tried to make annual trips to bowfish the lake. My most recent trip was in March 2021 ~ the trip for last March had to be cancelled.

Texas provides daily lake levels and other data at waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/individual/aquilla (scroll past the chart for lots of details). As of today, the lake level is shown as 63.5% full and 5.95 feet below the flood pool level.
