Splicing

We reccomend twisting together the wires together inline, soldering them, then coat with liquid tape and finally after it dries wrap with #33 eletrical tape. If you did it right you will never have a bad connection or corrosion issues.

Look's like many here got their experience from wiring houses.

It's not the same for boats. Will the wire nuts work? Sure.....For a while, but it's improper to use wire nuts on things that move. cars, trailers, boats.

Working on inoperative lights at night on the water is not fun.

In my light box all the connections are done using Crimp/Shrink connectors and terminal boards.

The Crimp/Shrink connectors will keep your connections watertite. This is important for keeping corrosion from wicking up your wiring. Corrosion causes higher resistance.

Fix it right from the beginning. It only costs a little more to have it first class and you will be rewarded with more fun on the water and less aggravation.
