Gonna be mounting an older 18 horse evinrude(I know not ideal) on the toon tomorrow. I need a quick do and don't lesson on everything about kickers. It's gonna be push pull steering. Not sure about throttle yet and siding week have to wait. How high doi mount it? I'm thinking it is gonna mount in between the outboard and the toon. Should be plenty of clean water there. All help is appreciated! Thanks guys!

It's kinda hard for initial setup because it all depends on how the back of the boat sits when people are on the front. Making it adjustable is nice. I ran mine setup up with the cavitation plate even with the bottom for 2yrs. I thought it done well. I just put an adjustable kicker mount on and it helped a lot. Now I can have it high for real skinny water or lower it for deeper water so it doesn't blow out when turning sharp.

I don't think theres gonna be anything 'quick' about mounting a kicker on a pontoon, especially if you've never done it before. Plus, from my experience, when you're in a hurry you tend to mess things up.

I'd start by reading every post you can find about kicker setup, then pop on here and ask questions as they come up. Most of it should be covered in one way or another.

Thanks carpcommander! I know you are the fab god!

That said i got about three hours in on it friday night. And about 6 hours in yesterday morning. Went to a tournament last night and fished with it flawlessly all night. Not bad for winging it. I'm sold on kicker motors now. We were getting places we never dreamed of with a troller. And the run down capabilities is awesome!

And now with that being said. It is far from perfect and needs some fine tuning. I need to get a better throttle cable and make the steering a bit smoother. And i need to adjust the angle of the kicker "transom" it's a lil to straight up and down and is blowing out a bit at higher RPMs. Other than that it worked great!

Haha...maybe I was wrong about what I said. :)

Glad to hear y'all got it running, and running pretty good it sounds! I wasn't trying to sound like an a-hole, I've just had bad luck myself when I try to rush something or cut corners.

Post up some pics of that setup when you get the chance- i havent seen a lot of kicker 'toons.
