Been awhile since Ive posted anything new, but that doesnt mean I havent been busy in the shop
This build started several weeks ago when my buddy Austin asked me for some names of local welders or fabricators, seeing how we are from the same town. Austin and his dad Tim had bought a nice G3 recently, and wanted to do some upgrades.
Im still not sure if he was 'reeling me in', but I happen to own a welder, and Ive done a little fab work in the past. I told Austin Id love to help, but I dont have a shop.
Well.....as luck would have it Tim and Austin have a very nice, very large pole barn :drunk:
After some discussion we struck a deal-Id revamp their G3, and in turn they would let me finish my build at their place. Win/win for all!
Austin mentioned he liked my style of removable enclosed 'airboat' rails, and how I made my flush deck on my first build. A few txts were traded, and then I was handed full authority to start tearing her apart! I gotta mention Austin must have really trusted me with his baby, because through the whole build he's been away at school in S.C.! I think he'll like how she turned out.....
First things first-we need to ditch this factory deck! A lot of guys leave em in, but seeing how this
one weighed 100+ lbs, it had to go.

One challenge I had to be aware of was the fact that I was rebuilding the front end ONLY. This meant I had to build it so the floor and sides could be removed after the deck was done. It may not sound that difficult, but it required quite a bit of 'forward thinking'.
First obstacle-the factory deck was made from .060(??) sheet....about as supportive as cardbard. It had plywood underneath originally, but this cat doesnt do wood!
