Loosen the drag all the way, remove the cap, them the spinner head

Pull off the C clip, a needle nose pliers works well for this.

Pull one of the metal washers and use it as a pattern. Plastic from milk jugs makes good spacers. Reassemble with a spacer or two and your good to go.

You can see in this pic. how there is now 2 metal spacers.

This should be stickied. The drags on those 808's are junk. If this fixes the drag, the reel itself would be a lot more functional.

yes sir. That mod works like a charm. I really like the Zebcos. If only there was a cure for the weak pick up pins...

It does work great. I read about this last year and put 4 plastic spacers in mine.
