Just picked up a Honda EU2000i, another piece towards this years build. This is my second year of bowfishing and this year my roomate and i are making our own rig. One piece out of the way, next comes the 6 150w HPS's....

I'm going to run caps on 2/6 of them...that'll be fine wont it? They wont all be turned on at once, ever.
Just buy the ones with caps to start with and then you won't have to worry about it.
P.S. you'll turn them all on at once sooner or later. lol

If you can afford it i would get the caps with them...y would you never have all 6 on anyways? I have 4 with caps and actually debating buying two more with or w/o cap just because ill have enough genny to cover it

I didnt mean that they all wont be running at once, i meant that each light will be given power at a different time than the next one. All 6 will be running which the honda shouldnt have any problems running but if they were all given power at once i believe they would flicker because running amps and starting amps are different.

I run a honda eu2000 also with 7-150 hps's. By running caps on ALL of my lights my genny don't have to work nearly as hard. It's sorta like this, you take care of the one that takes care of you. Less stain on the genny the longer the life span.

Muzzyboy, any chance you could share that philosophy with my wife? Hope it's truer with genny's than with my old lady.
LOL, you are on your own with that one man.
