Buddy of mine went out and tested his kicker out and ran into some problems! The kicker when in the water wont run over half throttle without cavitating and creating an air pocket. from the cavitation plate to the water surface is prob 8in. anyone got any solutions?

I will venture to say the motor is mounted too high... It may look good now but when y'all get onto the front deck it is gonna raise the arse end a bit....

Agreed!! That'd be the first thing I'd do! That cavitation plate should be below the bottom of Boat/pod... It functions the same as a spoiler on a car only with water!

What he ^ said!! And maybe a little more until it quits sucking. And he's absolutely right it'll change when you get people up front! Mounting it to a jack plate would probably be your best bet!

Hey fellas, I had my buddy post this on while I was at work. I appreciate everyones help so far but I have a couple things I'm wondering about. If i'm suppose to mount my kicker where the cavitation plate somewhere around 2in below the pod, I will have somewhere around 11in of shaft/prop below the bottom of my pod. At rest the boat would need 11in + of water to free float, but after putting people on the front that will change. It will be able to go a bit shallower.

How shallow are people generally able to go with a kicker?
Also, how do some people reduce the amount of bind that is created when turning the shaft the pulleys are on? Is there a "best" way to place the pulleys in correlation to the shaft to reduce putting alot of torque on the system?

Your gonna have to set it way back off of the pod or either way down below to cure your cavitation issue. Most all of them cavitate a little. Most just don't untill you get near full throttle. Because of the pods, I bet the back of your boat is much higher than you realize while fishing.
