Heading to the VA side of Lake Gaston this week for a bachelor party and Im hoping to shoot some fish. Could anyone answer the following?
Do I need a VA fishing license or does my NC license cover it since the lake spans both states?
Are there places I need to avoid seeing as how this is a populated lake?
Not asking for any hotspots but if anyone wants to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Not sure about gaston but buggs island is reciprocal, nc or va license so I would assume that you'd be fine with either. Ncwrc website should be able to answer for sure

You can use your NC license. No cats on va side and no grass carp period.

Thanks guys. Do you mean there are no cats on the Virginia side? Or its illegal to shoot them? I would assume this answer will be the same for the grass carp.

As long as you put in on the nc side you're good on cats. They're everywhere.
