Has anyone tryed a led bar for abig head tower? I'm bout to start on a tower and wondering if a led bar would work or if I should just go with the 27 watt LEDs? How do the 27 watt LEDs compare to the cheap regular tractor lights, that's all I've used shooting with a tower.

Led lights are brighter. I had 12 v halogens and fished under leds and they illuminated alot more. Don't really see why you would spend the extra money on a bar rather than regular floods?

Light bars should work fine and I'm guesing lighter but I haven't ever really looked at them as far as price comparison to light output. We have 9 27watt spots on our tower but could get by with less than 9 if went floods and still get good coverage just wouldn't be as bright. 12v halogens will defiantly get the job done though and defiantly the cheapest route.

I thought about this last year and know it would be awesome the problem I had was the cost of them because 1 bar would just light one direction, usually you'd have it facing forward meaning only the people in front could shoot (kinda defeating the purpose vs a spotlight) so I would've needed 3 or atleast 2 in a "V" shape. Tractor lights werent as much light as a light bar but still enough and A LOT cheaper.

That was with the tower 14 ft. Up. Harbor freight specials $13 a pair. They did well but like I said, in comparison to LEDS they aren't as bright. Fraction of the cost though and that is what I was going for at the time

The light bars are way to focused for me. I didnt like them at all. I would just get some 27's or 50's and be done with it. The 27's are super cheap now. Like $25 each and most of the 50"s are around $48 each.

Super simple really. As you can see it folds down for running the big motor. Ive got a hot foot switch that plugs into a Anderson connector and the whole thing just lifts directly out of two 3/4pin style bases I made on the back of the deck. The tower is 8' tall, only thing I'd do different is make it hang out over the front of the boat more. Turning on the lights and turning around is blinding.
