Ok still debating about getting leds for the new boat "1748 bass tracker" stuck between led and halogens. Always used halogens but wouldnt mind giving the led's a shot

If i run 4- 50w, and 4- 30w Led's could i get away with only using one battery as long as i have a converter? Also what size converter would i need if i am running a 45# trolling motor with along with the lights? Dont have a clue about these darn Led's so any help or suggestions will be appreciated! :)

Biggest advantage to you running a genny would be less batteries to haul around. Another MAJOR advantage is no maintanance on the led's. As in you don't have to worry about bulbs for the next 56 years and thats if you run them 24 hours a day. I would also recomend the 27 and the 48 watters since they are fully water proof. Just one more thing not to have to worry about.

I love my 10 50 watters. Wouldnt trade em for anything. Im running 3 group 31 batteries and can get about 6ish hrs on a fully charged set- thats about 6 hrs of total silence!

A sidenote is that since I switched over I have had exactly ONE person beitch about my boat, and he only said "Them damn lights are ligjtimg up my entire house." Everyone else has just asked about what we were doing, etc., and we could actually convers with them. They were more curious than anything. Im convinced 90% of the issues against bowfisherman stem from noise versus light. Just a theory...

As for shootable light, they are roughly as bright as a 500 watt halo. My last setup had 10 300 w halos and this is a tad brighter. Better quality of light in my opinion.

I agree mostly with you. With 500 watt halos we used to have more homeowners etc.. come down to docks or light us up with spotlites and the amount of "light wash" up in trees and into backyards was pretty bad. You could tell color of house and shutters, what furniture in back yards etc.. since going LED the amount of light wash? is way less and and have only had 1 come down to lite us up. But I have to disagree that it's the noise not the light. The one that came down this fall was over 100-150 yds away up a hill, we were on opposite!e side of river and lites were no where close to shining up the house. It was around 10:30 pm and saw backyard/ porch lites come on and the house lites were already on. The sliding door opened and the person came down and proceeded to lite us up all way down the river until we disappeared around a corner. I believe its more the fact they "saw" us on the river, not because we lit up the house or even heard us, but looked out back and saw us lit up on the river. We run a champion and with led's barely breaks idle. We cant hear it run from in house in driveway at 50-75 feet. Outside we checked and cant hardly hear it 150 feet much less 150 yds. I think you will always have people that see the lites first and get curious. But have way less encounters with the LED's than did with halos. You were running silent when your encounter with LED. You cant help the fact they will always see us wiyh the lites in the dark. Not that we are shining them or they hear us but they just "saw" us, period and don't know what we are or just don't like us there at nite.

Just FYI, I am running thirteen 27W LED on a G3 1850 off a single battery for 4-5 hours and a pair of batteries for my 12v troller. I run three switches (Left, Right, Front) and when running the banks off the left side of the boat, I only run my left and fronts kicking the right side on when I enter coves or shallows. When running more than 4-5 hours, we take a break back at the truck, swap batteries out and go back out for another 4-5. No gen set at all.

just on the corners IMO. depending on deck length most boats are using 14-20 27watt. on a 1748 basstracker im guessing its the mod-v front and deck is about 60". i would put them 14" apart down the sides and where ever your corners are add one more to make the turn. if you only run 12-14 i know for a fact you could run them on 3-29s @ 12v for 8+hrs.

It's my first set, I started last spring and fished days until the fall and since then I have only fished over another set of 27's and a set of 100's and both were in clear water so I am not a good judge for you. Maybe others that have fished over various lights can chime in on the 27's performance.

Spread on my lights is 1' apart and I think I have pretty good coverage.

I like my 2- 40W LED's up front & my 27W on the side. I'm like jb-hunter mine are on 2 switches, left side, right side. 1 31 series batt for the lights, 1 31 series for the 12V 54lb troller. 2 Powermax 55amp converters, for each (lights & troller). 3 bank on-board charger keep my batteries fresh all year round. I switched out trollers since the pictures. I went with a Watersnake 54" 54lbs tiller. I have zero complaints about my LED's.

for 27 watt leds:
The lights pull around 1.8 amps each and you can drain your battery by at least 80% without compromising output or damaging your battery. So the formula to compute your available light time would be Battery rated Amp Hours X 80% divided by number of lights per battery X 1.8 amps
Using the 125 amp hour WalMart battery and your 10 lights.............. (125 X .80) / (10 X 1.8) = 5.56 hours
