I think a big part of it with regular fisherman is they've been completely brainwashed with the idea of catch and release. Now don't get me wrong I fully support C&R and do it most of the time, but I like to eat fish I catch too. On another fishing forum I've seen guys damn near crucified for saying they kept a fish for the frying pan (especially largemouth bass). These guys are so caught up with putting everything back they seem to have forgotten removing some fish actually helps the overall population. Even had a few that tried telling me bass ain't any good to eat... I beg to differ.

Yeah I'm working on developing a similar system for hunting. Kill and Release. It's still pretty controversial but I think it'll catch on.

From what I've seen bass fisherman tend to be the worst, which sucks cause I love bass fishing too but they can get really full of themselves. Knew a guy that told me about a lake down in IL that the local bass guys had a bad habit of vandalizing rigs in the boat launch parking lot that were not owned by locals to try and keep people from coming and "Catching their fish"

A few years back the hunting forum users had to threaten to boycot G5 and some other manufactors for awhile.

They were sponsoring a new sport where bucks would be hunted with low-poundage bows equipped tranquilizer darts, it was to be filmed in a place like Sampson's Ridge. The idea was to shoot the buck with the arrow/darts for a score, then the animal could come-to and thus be released to hunt another day. It was in a sense "Catch and Release" hunting and would be filmed like a competition-based reality show.

Thanks gooodness it never caught on and the bad flack from hunters helped stop the sponser funding. It was a step in the wrong direction, by taking the killing out of hunting :(

I think it was going to be called the "Pro Hunter Circut" or something to that nature. It was a Hollywood-based idea :cf:
Making a sporting league or television show out of it is a horrible idea. But they are doing something similar in Africa with Rhino research. You can't hunt the rhino's anymore but they are offering to allow hunters to use a bow like you said to spot and stalk and then dart rhinos for the researchers instead of just using a dartgun.
