Hps will make clean water look dirty. I shoot near you. Though I have never used LEDs from what I have heard about them and knowing the water you shoot I would recommend them. Especially with your 1000 yammy.

And I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but u should be able to run 15-16 of the 50 watters.

To clear up what these other guys are saying with that amount of led lights you should have solid light coverage around your boat.

The hps will cast more light farther but with 4 150s you may have a couple darker spots between lights

Not true at all. HPS are yellow but clear water is clear water no matter the light color. 4-5 150's is plenty enough light to shoot fish, I shot a lot of fish off of a boat with 4 150w Econolights.
O really? here i thought that hps lights literally put dirt particles in the water when you were shooting clear lakes. Thanks for clearing that up.
i was trying to explain to him the difference between coverage around the boat as far as dark spots between lighs vs. brightness and penetration.
What is the point of this post? Are you recommending that he should go with hps shooting clean lakes instead of of leds with a 1000 watt generator? If so you should better explain your thoughts.
If i am wrong that light coverage around a boat with 4 150's and there were no shadows between then let the guy know that you don't think that will be an issue. I never said that 4 150's wasn't enough light to kill fish over...but i'm glad you killed a bunch of them!:drunk:

Just for reference here's some video with our setup, this is (12) 50 watt "ebay" LED's

And this was with our old 17ft Basstracker with (8) 50 watt LED's

Just as a possible comparison, there is some real clear "pool" water and some medium stained normal for us water just to ease your mind possibly about amount of light.
Do you know how many lumens these lights claim to put out? are they cool white?

In clear water ppl tend to prefer a "cool" light which is a "white" light. This makes things look more like they are during the day.

A lot of time in murky water people prefer a yellow "warm" "hps" light because they seem to cause less of a reflection and can make the fish glow a little bit.
