Lighting for the Inside of your Boat

So what are you'll using for lighting inside your boat?

I have 6-175MH and 2-250HPS below my deck and that works great outside my boat, but it is always so dark inside my boat.

I have tried the LED rope light, but I did not care for that. I have thought about puting a small work light off the generator or wiring a small 12V lights just to provide enough light so I do not have to keep finding a flash light...and to be honest usually when you need to use a flashlight you also want two free hands. I have also used LED cap lights, but I am not a huge fan of that either. I think what I really want is some small type of flood lights or maybe smaller that you can put on a 12V switch and provide enought light inside the boat so you do not ever need a flash light.

Do any of you have something you use or have seen that you really like? Just looking some ideas.

I understand what your saying.....You may want a single light for doing that task. Going brighter in the boat will give you "Night Blindness" . A very soft light will give you enough light to move about the boat, yet not give you the night blindness. On my boat they are White, but reflecting off the color of the boat ;Seafoam Green] they have a soft Blueish, green effect. They are not bright...In fact it is very hard to photo them turned on, as the flash from the camera is so bright. If I turn them on in the daytime in my shop, you can't tell a lot about them either. It's just when it's dark out on the water that they work well.

Aboard ship when it's night...They turn on all Red lights so as not to have night blindness.

There is a 8ft string under each Washboard. A 2ft string in the console, under the forward deck and under the Generator platform.

I am using a submersible over 80'' trailer led light bar. The lights are bright but they're red so they don't hurt your night vision. Its easy to see with them and you get plenty of coverage inside your boat. The were $8 each, and the led's only draw about .4 mA. I have several of them mounted vertically near the floor around my boat and wired to the panel on my console. I leave em on all the time. I plan on adding some to my compartments next. The place I got them was way cheaper than everywhere else I saw them. PM me if you want a link to buy some. good luck!

I just put a couple of the Walmart LED's like on Team Shockers link -and a heads up- they are very directional casting light in a straight line. I've got them facing straight down and really need to angle the bracket to cast more light towards the center of the boat
