Just to help all you guys looking for a possible electric steering and throttle, here is some pictures of mine. Works great, hope it helps.

Right left switch on top, throttle up/down on front of handle controlled with you middle finger.

Takes 4-5 seconds to do a 360 turn, Only way to adjust speed would be gearing on the rack and pinion.

1 to 1.5 seconds. The travel of the throttle linkage is .625 of an inch on the briggs motor. It is adjustable by the pivot point on the cam you make for the actuator.

The throttle is kind of nice because its like cruise control when your looking for fish, yet fast enough to come to idle when you shoot. The rack and pinion can be had from Applied technologies. The only problem is you may have to buy more of the rack then needed but, i'm sure you could sell it to somebody else looking to build a fan. If you end up not liking the electric actuator it would be super simple to hook a cable to as well. The rack is a real good robust design, no cables, pulleys, chains or sprockets to deal with. And the stuff also turns super easy with a cable setup as 2 of my buddys have them.

Wait a minute, not applied technologies, give me a minute and I will remember.......

The turn actuator is roughly 300, throttle actuator is 60, rack and pinion is 100 and you got extra rack(think its sold in like a 4ft chunk,+ some misc steel for mounting. You can definantly save some on a steering actuator but thats the heart and sole so it ain't a bad place to spend it.

Whats there duty cycle on a comparable model? Do they have a clutch built into them, there web page kind of stinks.

Stays where you put it. I once forgot to stap it in place for the 45 mile ride to the river, never moved.

I work for Applied Industrial Technologies in Madison, Wi but there are locations in every state - most of the gear rack is sold in 4 or 5' sections...if you call up your local store they might be able to get you a smaller section. I have worked with a couple guys setting up boats selling them 4 bolt flanged bearings and chain and sprockets.
