keep silicon spray on your line, also if it gets twisted too bad I have heard of people dragging the arrow behind the boat to un twist line. I shoot a ti20 with 200 lb ff and honestly can say i have never had a really bad problem with twists. Yeah i get some but nothing like your talking about...

 

I have not had this problem occur yet. I dont know what to say except that i hope it does'nt happen to me... I hope someone on here can help.

 

Sounds like the drag is slipping while you reel or the line is spinning on the spool while you reel to get that mcuh twist.

 

Also I dont know at all but if your arrow rest isnt tuned properly couldnt this cause line twist? if the arrow is coming off all funky?

 

Have never had that much twisting problem with any reel. Maybe the line is slipping on the spool as you wind that can cause it, or the arrow tip you are using is causing the arrow to spin as you retrieve or you may need to take some line off the reel if it is really hard to reel up the last few feet, only remove just what is necessary!
Usually just letting the arrow hang off the reel a few feet and let is spin a few times is all that is necessary!

 

silicon spray, and i run line out then reel it between my finger then let the arrow dangle for a minute. try to hang it about every 5-10 shots and let it un twist.

 

I like to take all the line off and turn it around every now and then...but I bet money the line is slipping on ur spool.

Easy fix for line rotating on the spool. When you tie your line on the spool seat it with a drop of superglue and let it dry. Then just spool it up nice and tight like normal. As for twist in the line, usually just let the arrow hang and unspin but if its really bad (deep into the spool) then take the arrow off the line and start trolling through open water and peel the entire spool worth of line out into the water and troll it behind the boat for about 30 seconds, reel it up and you'll have totally straight line.

 

also dunno if those work the same way with the bigger line on em. the regular mono line will twist up if you reel in a fish with it takeing line out of the reel ya may try a swivel it would prolly help some but the line will always twist on your way to your fishin hole let all ya line out of the reel n let it kinda dangle behind the boat with the arrow off it will straighten up. ya can do that on your way to fishin holes if its bad enough and brady may be right about the line slippin too either way reel magic and straightening your line periodically is bout all i could figure would help and maybe a swivel

 

I hit it with Reel Magic before each time it gets taken out. The line is 200# FF.

I think the thing that contributes the most is the current. I bank fish current and upon retrieval, the arrow begins to rotating around safety slide, and twists the line like a candy cane. I usually try to let the twist work out but by the time the arrow is near enough to let dangle, the most the twist is already housed inside the reel.

 

thats prollydoin alot to it maybe ya can try a swivel n see if it keeps at least some of the slack out of it. it may keep ya fishin a little longer anyways

 

If that's the case then yeah a swivel is probably your best choice. Just make sure you buy good ones that are weight rated and I wouldn't screw around with barrel swivels spend the extra money for good ball bearing ones that have a clasp style lock up. Could probably just hook it to one hole on a safety slide.

other than the line slippng not sure , but i have shot the same muzzy xd for 4 years now and have never had a problem like that!

 

Just put a rod attachment on there and you'll be fine

 

I think i might have a problem with my line spinning as well, does reel magic really work better than any normal silicon spray?

 

No some of it is better not to mention cheaper.If you use just a simple slip knot like the one you use to tie your arrows on that will solve your line slipping problems.Just make it look like a lasso,twist a figure 8 in it to double it.It's a simple one way slip knot that can't move unless you put it on the reel backwards.No tape or any other bullchit is needed.:tu:

 

lol reel magic is magic yeah it works really well 3m also makes a good silicon spray too it will do wonders for ya though

 

ok i might have to get some if my problem keeps coming up, i just have some Liquid wrench silicon spray at the moment

 

cut 5 to 10 feet of line off. if you put more line than the reel can hold it starts warppin on the head and stuff

 

I know this thread is worthless without pitchers so here ya' go.Just slide it on over your reel and pull it tight.Once it's on it aint gonna slip.In order for it to work right the spinner head has to turn in the opposite direction that your line is wrapped.There's only two ways to put it on and if you get it on backwards just slide it back off and flip it around the other direction.

I learned it from a post on here when I first started shooting spinners.Pictures is a whole lot easier for everyone to understand how it's done and describing how to do it is even a little confusing but as you can see it's really pretty simple.It's just a figure 8 folded over to make one circle:tu:

 

I use just the single loop and duct tape on the spool itself and it DOES slip, I'll have to try that next time I reline.

 

seen it happen the other night. most likely its a drag issue. if it's slipping and you reel it then it's twisting the line.

Yep that's the loop and knot I have been talking about, although I do make my slip thru loop a lot smaller, but that is how I tie my line on. Good pics!
I have even triple wrapped it on some reels and still get some slipping. Trying a wide rubber band now to see how that will work on the spool and if it will last. Might be an easy fix for the line slipping on the reel, just depends on how it affects line wrapping on the spool as you wind the line on, have to get some samples to find the proper size to fit the inside portion of the spool.
Liquid Wrench silicone spray is what I have on my boat right now and it is working good, in fact too good!
