Idk if id do that, i know with halogens you cant put a 500w into a housing rated for 300w. I believe the extra heat it puts off could damage it as well as the current its pulling.

The 150 mh bulb will screw right in to the hps socket. Problem is, it won't light up.

i have seen conversion bulbs is this the only way or can you change ballast which would be cheaper. we hunt both clear and muddy what would you suggest.

From what ive read. And imphasize the word read.

You need at least a 250w ballast to run hps and mh with only changing the bulb.

Anything less and it wont light the bulb up.

I would keep using what you have and just buy bigger when u get a chance.

I don't think they make a conversion bulb for that combo but could be wrong. I think I've seen 175M/H conversion bulbs for 150hps lights but can't remember where.

thanks guess i Will just go bigger when funds allow. would like to go with some 400s guess ill just use the 150s for now. just trying to seat up my boat it is a 1654.
