Looking into getting some lights for my boat which is a standard 17' fishing boat with a casting platform in front. Trying to do it cheaper but still want quality lights. I'm leaning Seelite. Could I get away with say 2 80w LED's in front and 2 50w off each side? Would that give me decent enough shooting light?

Cool thanks so how little light can I get away with. Would 6 50w LED be enough if I mounted 2 up front off the bow and 2 on each side behind it. I am putting them on a quick release bracket so they'll be sitting up off the boat a little...

Where do you take the majority of your shots? Point the majority of your light in that direction.

We take an overwhelming majority of out shots from the bow forward, so the majority of our lights face forward. If I had 6 lights, 2 would face straight ahead, 2 would be at a 45* angle and one on each side.

It is real tough to space your lights anywhere but the water. I have had my boat up on the trailer and turned on my lights and its ridiculous bright but when I get out on the water you can better see what is overlapping or slight off.

I have 6 50w set up the way Gary Briggs describes. Most of my shooting is bank running so my switches allow me to shut off the left, the right or the front that way I save power with my two 31 batts. Lights are mounted to the underside of a 20" raised deck.

I've run (6) 50w HPS Seelites for over a year, and just added 2 more. The 6 were great, but added the extra 2 at the back of my light rail for someone shooting off the back deck.
