Just need 3 more for an even 12.

New deck this winter will have 4 up front and 4 down each side. Right now will be 3 up front and 3 down each side to finish out the year.

Hopefully going to get them all mounted and wired this weekend and take them out for a spin next week if I can track down two more 29 series batteries for the additional load

Ive been running my Maxxum Pro 80# and 5 50Ws for the past few months on two Walmart MAXX-29s that came with my boat (stamped from 2010) and get maybe 3-4 hours of run time before troller really slows down. i run the troller on 60% majority of the time.

Hoping to get about the same run time before having to fire up the generator. Next year will have two EU2000 to run this setup. Its nice to start the night of silent :tu:

Jeff

I am running 3 brand new interstate 29M batteries, powering 10 50w LEDs plus a few LED strips inside the boat. I''m only getting 5-6 hours of great light until I can start seeing the LEDS lose their brightness. Today, I finally hooked up my 70amp alternator that is on the fan to the those three batteries, hoping they will get charged while the motor is on. Ill test it Saturday night when I go on the lake. (btw, I have a 4th battery just for the starter)

I am trying to get a longer run time on the lights....

One option is to have the alternator beefed up to 100 amps, which I have to find someone that can do it.

Or... I can break out the 3000 honda, which you mentioned above.

How do you have it wired up so you can run your genny once the batteries start to die on you?

I run my lights and trolle rboth at 24v, so when my prop on my troller is barely spinning at 100% my lights are still at full brightness. My 50s dont start dimming until the voltage is under 10v, so thats why I prefer running everything at 24v.

I will be running 4 group 29s, 2 for the troller and 2 for the lights, I will have two Powermax 55's for the troller and possibly either one 23v Powermax, or two Powermax 45's, depends if the two EU2000s can handle that big of a load

Jeff brought up kind of a neat idea the other night,I get about 5 hours off my lights on one batt, and have to fire the genny to run through one 55 amp Powermax, and I have two 55's on the troller as well.Since you are running the genny at that point,a guy could run a couple MH's?

I have my MinnKota 3 bank charger going to my 3 group 31's. After the lights start to fade I just fire up the EU2000 and the lights are back at full brightness.

No need for a converter just for the LEDs-the charger does just fine.

I havent done any scientific tests but on a full charge Id say I get about 6-7hrs of fishing. Closer to 6 Id say. If the batteries arent fully charged, they fade pretty fast....

Jeff,

What is the difference vs the 27w led's as far as noticable amount of added light? Compared to say 10- 27w. Would you say the 50's have 2x more noticable light? 3X? I have 27's and they do fine for fishing but not enough for filming. Thinking about eventually getting more light for filming and just curious.

Its hard to say. My last boat had 18 27w LEDs and I got almost the same amount of light out of my five 50w LEDs.

My 5 50ws sucked for filming. I am hoping by adding two more up front will help this. We will find out. Hopng to take my boat out tomorrow night

The way I look at it:

Silent setup will let me fish until 1-2am, this is where most new guys will be about done fishing, so a silent setup is good for newcomers and women/children

Then when I want to shoot until the sun comes up. I fire the generator up at 1 am and go for it.

........................also should note that after about 6-7 hours on the troller we need to fire the genny, for the troller converters any way......
also....one lake....well actually whole county just passed a noise ordinance, that after 10 PM you can only emit 55 decibles......

#37 ·
Yea, Dik,I dont appreciate being called a liar!!Read the Links Jeff put up(Thanks Jeff)I like how you balerina'ed around that Cody!!!The whole ordinance started on a lake!!FYI,they dont give two chits about your boat....whether or not it effects YOU

Holy crap i bet thats brite!! Im running 6 of the 50's on 2 of the Interstate 4D's. They will run about 16 hours before i have to recharge or about 2 full nights of fishin. The stinkin batteries weigh 118 pounds each though!!

Kuger, and what makes you not dense in this situation? You are refusing to acknowledge my points as well. You can't say that my points don't make sense either because if you tract the LED threads I believe you were one of the first ones that agrued the fact on "no generator" and now look at you. I am just bringing up points, not trying to make anybody mad but it appears you get quite upset over it. Is it because you don't want to admit it? Im messing with you man. Calm down.

Dude,I get razzled when ya flat out call me a liar, then skirt the subject when its layed out for you,#2 I have run a genny with converters on my troller before I even got LED's,#3 we are only having to run the genny maybe 2 hours at most.....put it this way, shooting 2 nights a week just about every week since June,I have maybe filled the genny up twice(?)Last, move on,do you have nothing better to do than play HPS salesman...we get it,you have 400 HPS,great, awesome,we are happy for you!!!

#48 ·
haha razzled? I never flat out called you a liar either. and I never skirtted the subject. Everytime I addressed the subject you got up tight and mad. Anyway, once again you flipped out over a couple comments so I will leave you alone now. Sorry to the original poster for getting off subject.

Cody, I think their point is this:

Yes, everyone knows HPS put out more light than LED's, no one is disputing that

Yes, everyone knows that EU's are the stuff

Some of us (me included) got the LED's to run silent because we had crappy, loud generators.

BEFORE I knew anything about the advantages of converters, I was content with getting 4 hours of TROLLER run time. Now, 4 hours on the troller won't cut it so I put a genny on for that reason and I always have hot batteries.

Converters are fairly electrically demanding on a genny. If you run two or three converters, most aren't gonna be able to run a big light setup on a 2000EU. With LED's, you can do both. Small genny AND converters and run all night long.

And last but not least, DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS.

I think the issue here comes from you getting on every LED thread and telling the people why your light setup is better and LED's suck. Let it rest bud. Your setup works, great. So does mine.

#51 ·
You nailed it bud.

I have ran almost every light setup except MHs

Ive had 500, 300 and 250 ultras

Ive had 400 and 150 HPS

Ive ran the whole 27W LED setup and now a whole 50w led setup

When I was running 16 27w LEDs on my Bass Tracker, Id get until 1-2 am where my troller was barely spinning but LEDs were bright and strong.

The genny is basically only to keep the troller going, the LEDs are great. Just as bright as any of my halo setups

and yes my HPS setups were awesome, but I had no room on my Honda EU for any converters. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

With our LED setups you can see fish further out than you can shoot them, thats more than needed to shoot fish without pissing off entire campgrounds and park rangers.
