Hey guys I was looking at them mud motor kits online and I found a website that is based out of Florida if I remember rite. But they have a mud motor kit that has everything minus the motor and it fits a 5-7 hp motor for 295 bucks then the one that fits a 8-16 hp for 395 bucks. I was thinkin of gettin the smaller one n puttin one of those harbour freight 6.5 hp on it. That would be roughly about 415 for the whole motor plus prolly 30 bucks to ship it. I understand it won't fly on my 1436 but I just want to get to where my outboard can't. N yes I know it ain't as good as say a mud buddy or a gator tail but the price is rite. Has anyone tried any of these ? Just seein what I can find on them before I order one

Harbor freight has a cheap 13 hp motor too. You can upgrade a 6.5. Go cart guys call the modded hf motors animals. Google can show you tons of ideas on how to squeeze hp out of those little motors. Tons of good ideas out there.

Yea I was thinkin of seein what all u gotta do to make a bigger motor fit on the small kit because I think it's basically the same internal parts just a different mount I'm not sure tho and yea it'd be nice to have a little bit biger motor between 12-15 hp for a bit more power. I plan on gettin one in the next few months. After I do a little bit more research on em

Most like likely I'm gonna get the one from mid motor kit.com But I was just thinkin. Is there anyway to change the bushings to better ones in the tai kits? I understand that even after changing the bushings it still ain't as good as the ones from mud motor kit.com but it's just a thought

I will second that about the HF 6.5HP engine being good! If you can get one that fits that engine then there are all kinds of upgrades available. Heads, cams, carbs, and exhaust! This is coming from a guy that runs a mud motor (36hp Prodrive with upgrades) you are going to want to upgrade it, it is just human nature!

Just so you know. The 9hp and 13hp motors from harbor freight are the same block. If you get a 9 you can put a 13hp cam and carb on it an you will have a 13. To go over 16-17 hp on that block it will take a lot more work like machining down flywheel and boring the motor
