got a call late last night from a buddy wanting to know if i wanted to make a two hour drive this morning to kill some geese that were using his father in laws hay field. i hesitated because of work, but what the heck, yea i will go.
he picks me up this morning at 4am. we drive two hours, meet up with another buddy of his that has a few dozen deeks. we get to the field, set up the deeks, and find some tall grass to hide in. and we wait. about 7:45 we hear them coming, then we hear another group coming from the other direction. within a few seconds both groups came together and came right in to the decoys. 9 shots were fired and 7 birds died. we get them all picked up and shortly we here another group coming. they come in to the decoys like we had them on a string. 10 shots were fired, we killed 9. then a little later we had a group of 5 come in and 2 out of the three guns jammed and we only killed two of those. and right before we were getting ready to leave another group came in, circled a few times, then continued on....
damn i never thought shooting sky carp would be so much fun. hearing them things honking coming in was some exciting ****.
ended up with 18 birds! awesome first hunt for me and my buddy.
