Still going out trying to use up all the break in fuel. Decided to hit some spots that have been good to us in the past but was wanting to find some new water too. Fish werent up great, water was muddy, lot of current since the river is coming up fast but we took our time and had some cool experiences before the day was over. Water is up enough that there are now islands every where. At one point we heard splashing and looked up to see several deer running the length of the island next to us then they bailed off into the river and swam to the other side. Got a bit concerned for em when they swam into a huge pile of floating debris, but they all made it. Saw an eagle nest complete with eagle that wasnt there my last visit....couple yrs ago. Fished all around that tree and he just sat and watched us. Huge nest, big bird! Left that area with 15-20 gar and moved to a spot closer to the ramp that I had fished with success earlier in the week. Had to use the boat as a bulldozer to move some floating trees. Beavers have gone bat chit crazy back there, dropping 12 to 20 inch trees all over the area and now they're floating together to block entry. I didnt think it was going to be possible for us but we bulled our way in. Proved to be worth it, saw some huge gar and shot a few nice ones. Just as we were getting ready to push those trees I saw a couple otters come off the bank, Taylor pointed to the side and we saw 15-20 more, then a white one came over the levee! Big ole heifer. Cant saw albino since we werent close enough but she was all white. Gorgeous! Couldnt get the camera up before she dove in the water. This is one of my favorite holes this time of year tho, next couple times we'll be sneaking in hoping for a photo op. And Taylor asked for a backup shot on one of his big gar. I obliged but went thru his arrow first lol First time we've had that happen. Just glad it wasnt my arrow. Although I'm pretty sure he took the YJ I let him use home with him. I'll have to bring that up with him tomorrow lol I gotta get a go pro rigged up on this boat. Seems we never hit the river without having a story we cant document. Damn silvers seem to love this new motor...at least the are making a huge effort to get a ride this year. Had to make a guard for the throttle. I've had em land on it twice now. The first time it was a miracle someone wasnt hurt. Last time i couldnt believe it didnt break off the handle. This thing aint purty lol and it sure wont stop all of the hits but I'm hoping it'll help a little anyway. Dangerous little devils. I'm sunburnt about as bad as I've been for a few years  No idea what possessed me to fish shirtless yesterday. Sure was a beautiful day...wishing you guys the kind of days we had yesterday. Not many fish but sure was a day to remember. Be safe!!!
ps....can hardly see it but I'm wearing my fanny pack/floatation! Liking this thing,, dont even notice it after a bit.
