The thang ran great last summer.Took a few buds out sat. night and it ran like crap! Starts an idles fine, will rev up fine in "N". Put it in gear and will only do about 5 mph wide open. Does that sound like its starving for gas? Maybe suckin air in the fuel line?Help please.

Sounds like the carbs are gunked up. My buddies evinrude 60hp did the exact same thing last year. I put a whole can of sea foam in 3 gallons of gas and ran it WOT (about 10mph) for about 20 minutes...........when it broke loose I almost flew out of the back of the boat. While that worked I recommend having the carbs professionally cleaned or you could burn up a cylinder. Also, if you keep stabil in your gas year round you most likely will not have this problem again.

I'll try the sea foam. I did put stabil in it before i put it up and only use 100% gas no ethynol, Man it sucks when your rig ain't running right.

Might want to check out your gas tank and make sure there is no crap or sediment in there to clog up your jets..........also check your hose as it can rot from the inside and check your fuel filter. Might also want to think about a spin on filter/water separator. My mercury hasn't run better since I bought a new tank, hose and installed the spin on filter/separator.

my evinrude has done the same exact thing twice!!!! mine was a bad power pack. first one side then about 6 months later the other. we kept thinking had to do with carbs or fuel or something of that nature but it wasnt.. might want to check that if cleaning the carbs dont work..

BEST WAY TO STOP IT FROM HAPPENING IS RUN THE CARBS DRY BEFORE U STORE UR RIG I DO IT EVERY TIME BEFORE I LEAVE THE RAMP BUT INDEED THE JETS SOUND TO BE STOPED UP BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD

power pack is shot. the 115 merc. has two of them.....one went out. mine did the same last spring and had to replace one.

Thanks fellas, I'm gonna do a some fuel system checks to rule them out, and then i guess i'll be lookin into replacing the pwr pack.

i sure you have a high speed jet clogged...had it happen on my uncles 225 johnson...if your boat is gonna sit for a while you need to either run some stabil through it or run the carbs completly out of gas...

man mine did that the other time.........WOT at 2700 rpm.....going like 10mph..........the spark plug wire was disconnected !!!

we were thinking it was a clogged carb the whole time

i would install a water seperator cuz ethanol will gum up a carb quick. ethanol also seperates into water...and that causes problems also.

use sea foam and the blue bottle of stabil

Got her fixed! The prob wasn't the pwr pack after all it was a STINKIN little 5/16ths fuel line that was getting pinched closed by the linkage/stator arm when it moved to the rear.Dang i'm glad i didn't take it to a shop.
