I got the new fannman rest for my osprey and i cannot get it to shoot strait yet... I started out at center with the nock and moved it up and down in the tiniest incraments and no matter what its shooting Nock high .... i am really getting discouraged and need some help... i have set up fish hooks, wave rests, hydroglides with not problems but i cannot get this to work....HELP!!!!!!!:headbang:

but when i start with the arrow flat on the rest from the start it shoots nock high too... and everyone says raise the nock from that point so i end up where i took the picture...... it shoots nock high no matter what

Duane,The short osprey I have is set at 22 9/16 but I just eye balled it then took it out for some water bottles in the yard, had to move it once!My medium did the same way had to move four times to get it right 22 15/16ths!But it does take putting a little time on the fanman if your not used to shooting down on the riser, but I think the release is very critical in arrow flight I shot very inconsistantly for the first day then got used to the feel and actually shortened my draw length up a hair for a better anchor point! I also was shooting low poundage to start with and my buddy noticed when I shot bad I was twisting the string with my fingers when releasing!I switched to carbon arrows that helped me alot on consistancy!

smoke take a trip up here and help me out with it ... or ill shoot down there lol and you can help me.... what you doing next weekend??? lol i done everything i can think of and cant pull it off...my biggest issue is i can shoot a hydroglide like a bullet... and the fannman is shooting nock up.... so release not an issue... cause i can make rests shoot bullets.... its my style vs that rest i beileive but fannman is gonna get me a diff rest to try and just see if that is it... wich i think its not the rest its my style....

Knock up means when the arrow hits the water or target the nock is WAY higher then it was when it left the bow... not shooting strait!

#83 ·
agreed... harsh!

#88 ·
good plan... but i can shoot other rests with fingers and shoot bullets... i want to shoot this rest the same and i should be able to... other people do... so thats not an option.... like saying your cars brakes dont work so stick your foot out the door... it might work but ... not the way it should!

did the same thing in the water as in the target... shooting azz up doesnt change if i shoot it in a target .. or the water or ground or air......

#100 ·
x100 i think this is the problem! the rest just dont match my style for what ever reason... but

#102 ·
i tried this ... once i go below center it goes ape chit... so far off i almost miss the damn target

#105 ·
finally a new idea... i never thought about that... the thing is when i shoot the hydro glide ... i set it with the back higher then the front... but i will check that body... thanks for the idea... I will let you know if that works tomorrow!

ALSO, if it helps, I tie to the back...GarGod uses rings...his bow hits the water perfect also...I didnt realize how bad my tuning was with my fishhook until I shot with Jeff and heard his arrow hit the water...it was a long day for me listening to that...got a Fanman the next week and fixed everything...

i have a retriever ... so tying to the back is out check out jeffrm20s posts

I'll bet you a nickle that your nocking point is still too low.Three under requires a higher nocking point.I shoot split fingered and mine tunes out at 1/2" high.I've read that a lot of recurve shooters that shoot 3 under their bows tune out 5/8" nock high.Plus you got to remember if you're shooting a spinner it's gonna have to be even higher than that because the line pulls down on the arrow. And here's another little hitch for your giddy up.Retriever line don't pull from straight under centershot,it pulls from the side.

Such sweet info is why your on my prostaff... (btw your bow will be ready by this friday! I got busy) i went to half an inch and it was still shooting high... i may just have to make it look like there is no way in hell it will shoot... i did that with my cuda... i had to go almost a half inch and everyone that looked at it was like ... wtf no way that can shoot strait! Thanks TTG... you da man lol... im gonna try out all these sweet ideas tomorrow! and fannman is sending me a diff. version of his rest to try it out... he is awesome!

Fishing arrows do some funky chit and can often times give you false readings and make you want to pull your hair out.You just got to keep playing with it until you find that sweet spot.Mine does the same thing, it'll kick nock high and make you think the nock needs to go lower when it actually still needs to be moved up.

I hear ya but i have been all over the spectrum on this one! up .. down...up ... down again... up again... down again .. up ... up more... lol

If that don't work then play around with your draw weight.Your centershot wont always be dead on "true center" when your bow is tuned.I know that stiff arrows tune left of center for me and weak ones tune a little farther to the right of center. But I'm ass backwards from all of you right handed people. At any rate, if you aren't shooting a spinner, centershot could be part of your problem.I know that when I make epoxy rests and I tune it for a retriever then I can't just put a spinner on it and expect it to shoot right. If I switch reels then I'll have to knock it off and make a new one.

I shot about 100 shots today with it and still the same thing... i messed with the draw weights... same thing... i messed with the timing as gargod suggested... no change... i tried to shoot 1 over and 2 under instead of 3 under... shot about 20 arrows like that ... no change.... i moved the nock all over the damn place.... no change... Fannman is sending me a new rest to try out this week so we can see if its a problem with the rest or just my style of shooting wont work with that rest!... Nothing but respect for Fannman and his products.. and his customer service! No matter how this ends up thanks for the help everyone!
