I just bought a new bow fishing rig out of Hartsville SC as of yesterday. I've been debating on getting a custom hull and starting from scratch or buying used, but I couldn't pass up the deal on this boat. Its a 2009 2072 Alumacraft with a 90hp Mercury outboard and a 2008 15hp Mercury kicker. I took it out on the water tonight for the first time, and man, is it a step up from the trolling motor! The steering is set up with factory controls on a console with factory throttle. Its hard to tell in this picture, but should I keep this steering/throttle set up? Or should I change something about it? Thanks!

PS: The name of the boat was there when I bought it. Not my idea. :shh:

I dont know if this is the right section or not, but does anyone know how an idea of how much these lights would weigh a piece under the deck? They're 400 watt MH with the ballasts inside the housing. The boat wants to nose dive with all the weight up there!

Nice boat. "poor boys bowfishing" name needs to change though. I say fish on it for a while and see what you like and don't. The set up might feel different at first but you might love it. Kind of the just opposite of women, at first it is great then you get bored. Boats are different.

I peeled off "Po' Boyz" before I even got the boat home. It just says "Bowfishin'" now. I see what you're saying though, Ill give it a try for a while to see how it grows on me

On my kicker I use the throttle to help swing the back end around for maneuvering around things better, so I would not like having to let go of the steering wheel to throttle up and down in these situations. But in your situation I would run it for awhile and see how you like it. It may be fine and not worth the time and money to change over to a steering system with integrated throttle.
