For anyone that has Facebook " southeastern Ohio bowfishing club" is a new group we started to try to have a tournament series around muskingum and gernsey county's in southeast Ohio. If you would like more info please go join the group. We're thinking about including Seneca lake, salt fork lake, muskingum and Ohio rivers, tappin lake, leesville lake, peodmont lake, and possibly some others.

Sounds pretty much like the Ohio Boys circuits in the past and they still have some in that area. They've had tourneys on all but the muddy Musk. From past experience leave Tappan off that list unless it's someone's home lake they can't live without!! There were several new teams show up for a tourney there & they never came back after that ............ the lake of 3 lb carp and it became famous on BFC for that. I'll check out the page though, we might make the drive over that way to shoot new water & meet some new shooters.
Good luck with it !!

We shot the Ohio boys tourny the last couple years but this year they decided to run a northern and southern circuit and leave out the middle so we decided to start our own. This year we're going to have one tourny a month starting in April and have a big tourny in september. We're going to include Seneca lake, salt fork lake, leesville lake, Ohio river (Marietta), peidmont lake, and the muskingum river ( mcconalsville ramp). We're submitting paper work this week for everything. Going to try and plan the muskingum river for around June so maybe it will be cleared up. Prolly do a big 5 format for this year with big/little fish pots. If we end up not liking that we may go to big 10 and add in some numbers for the next year depending on how this year goes.

Good luck with your tourneys . Looks like you guys are keeping them in a pretty specific area. We've been left out for years so I'm personally glad that the Ohio Boys branched out to include more area of the state and save me some drive time & expenses. Lots of good water in the state & always good to see new places.

We have no hard feeling towards the Ohio boys for it, they even said we could do our series under there name if we wanted but there's really good fishing around hear and we wanted to have the control to change stuff if it seemed fit instead of answering to someone else. We're going to schedule our shoots around there shoots so we're not competing with them. That and I'm sure some of us will be going to there shoots as well.

Yeah, you have some good water on there, it's just a ways for us. Gets expensive when you have to get some place to stay, as well as gas to shoot against guys on their home lakes. We got to see new water shooting the Ohio Boys that we may not have gone to otherwise & a couple of the places, I wouldn't waste my time going back to, but we had a blast.

Which is exactly why we decided to do this. We all love to shoot fish but also have young families at home. We can still go out have some friendly competition but not have to drive to far from home to do it.

Sounds like a good time and like there will be a lot of fish shot. What really needs to happen is some groups join up and try to cover more of the state. For instance, your group run the SE area shoots, OH Boys run NE and SW, and someone run some in central OH. Gonna be hard to get a ton of people as regulars with pop up circuits interfering with each other all summer

Well carp, that's kinda what's happening. Ohio boys have went north and south and we're kinda in middle. All that's open is the west and far north west. And we are scheduling all of our shoots on diffrent weekends as the Ohio boys so we're not competing with them. So really you could go to a tourny shoot almost every weekend if you wanted.

Im by no means dogging your tournaments Im sure we'll shoot some of them. Im just saying in general that OH has tons of potential for a huge integrated tournament circuit I believe. And someone really needs to pick something up in Central OH where theres a high concentration of people. What we REALLY need is a tournament on Erie!

May be a little hard for Asutin to get things going as he's in South Carolina for school right now. Would you guys even support a tornament series that you had to travel to different parts of the state for ?? Not sure how a statewide circuit would be though, because this thread in itself shows that many people don't want to travel to new waters for tournies.
I guarantee that if Carp gets anything going, it won't be a big 5 format and Lake Erie will be the star of the show. Need to seperate the field with a big 10 or total weight. It might bring in some of the better shooters/teams that aren't really into the Ohio Boys idea, like the turnout Tappan had a couple years ago.......... that was fun.

Fellas just a heads up in case you didn't see it I made a thread for all the people putting on tourneys in OH if yall wanna throw your schedule up. Looks like you got some pretty solid lakes should have a decent turn out if we can spread the word around
