well tired of the same ol crap out there. so instead of running 8 pisochit halogen fixtures Im going to run 4. this one is 45 in. long and 9 in. tall. I am going to be running one more 4 footer and two 3 footers in the front with more mh/hps digital fixtures on the front corners and off the fan stand. Let there be light.

Im replacing the store bought single fixtures that everybody runs and replacing them with these custom fixtures I made. running 4- 350 ultras in there right now, but probly gonna run 14-225s so i can get more bulbs per fixture with my 3-400 Mh and 4-250 mh. just showing my new fixtures I started building. got the 250MH housings made already just waiting on glass now and the new digital ballsats I ordered. you can see the frame of one in the background in the fan picture.

225ultras draw 225 watts or 1.875 amps ea. 14x1.875=26.25amps +22amps for3 4oomh and 4 250mh=48 amps.Might be a new member of the 10,000 watt genny club! Welcome! On the bright side,if the power goes out you can run your entire house off the boat genny-done that.LOL

so much for a light weight setup. LOL

why not just add a few more 400 MH or HPS?

you will have twice the amout of light with half the power draw as all them halogens?

Can't speak for anyone else, but i didn't care for the hps lights i had for one season on my old rig.Couldn't get use to the yellow/orange light so i went back to halogens. They were the 150hps lights. I have been kicking around getting some of the big 400hps fixtures from jpeater and giving them another try,on the fence on that one.

They'll still be orange because of their dominant sodium content. Why not just use Metal Halide bulbs? That's what you'll have to do if you want white light.I'm fixing to put 6 250w and 1 400w metal halide lights w/digital ballasts on mine for good coverage. It wont be using much juice.Probably in the neighborhood of 2,000 watts and putting out 152,000 lumens of white light. Here's a link that explains it a little better than I can.
