I'd have a hard time believing that since it came from a north texas lake that has a very, very small GG population. You never know though.

 

GG are in many places that people do not think they are, but looking at the snout, it just looks different. There is a way to tell by looking at the rows of teeth, I'm not sure about it but there are a few guy's on here very familiar with it.

 

Even some of the other breeds of gar have double rows of teeth, and bill doesn't look broad enough to be a hybrid to me at least....pretty sure this is straight needle nose.....but might be wrong

 

It would be worth and at least interesting to have it checked out, you just never know!

 

I wish we had someone around us that could age gar with out having to send off stuff. It would be interesting to see how old some of the big nn we've shot this year are in comparison to some of the big Gg. We have some PIG nn in some of these lakes

 

Congrats on a nice fish!! Don't guess anyone is ever gonna beat my buddies Lsba record from way back when, don't know why didn't list it with the state!! Needle nose weighed 93lbs!!!
