I've been bowfishing a few years but have only used spotlights so far. Me and my group is looking at generators and lights on a small budget. We are looking at a 900watt generator. I know where I can get up to 2-400w HPS fixtures and as many 150w fixtures as I would need. Is this generator a joke and if not, what light combo would you suggest?

I would go ahead and buy a 3500 watt genny. You can get them relatively cheap now and can always add lights as you go with the extra power. My buddy has a 900 watt genny and it really is a joke I think lol.

Southern Draw is about right. Buy a bigger generator so you can open up many more lighting options. You would be much happier in the end. About the best value in a generator out there in my opinion is the little 3500 watt Champion generator. It sells for $279-$300 at tractor supply and has proven to be very reliable for many people including myself!
