Below is some content on important regulations changes that bowfisher's need to be aware of: If possible please re-use this content for all subsequent BAA journals until these regulations change decision processes are finished (hopefully by end of year). We need to get the word out on these efforts and drive support in as many ways as possible.

Bowfishing Regulations Update: Act Now!
There are currently two important regulation change proposals facing the sport of bowfishing in Michigan and Colorado. We are asking that all bowfishermen across the nation to PLEASE send in your letters of support on these issues! Bowfishermen need to make their voices heard in the off-season as the passage of the following regulations changes will benefit fisheries, the sport of bowfishing and participants for years to come!

COLORADO
----------------------
A citizen issue paper was presented to the Colorado Department of Wildlife (DOW) earlier this year asking the DOW to permit archery as an additional valid method of take for Kokanee Salmon during the designated snagging season where permitted. Given these fish are at the end of their natural cycle and will die if not harvested, the issue paper looks to maximize the harvest of these edible fish by adding bowfishing as an additional method of take.

MICHIGAN
----------------------
Currently Michigan bowfishing regulations have complex regulations which has a limited season, restricted waters and does not include all available rough species. Currently the Michigan Natural Resources Commission (NRC) is deliberating on a major regulations change which in effect would expand the available lakes, expand the rough species available for harvest, and greatly expand the season for bowfishing in the state of Michigan. The proposed regulation is FO-219 and this issue is currently under consideration for a NRC vote by end of year. The NRC needs to hear from interested bowfishermen with letters of support!
