Alright guys we met with the Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council Thursday night about this years tournament and everything went well. They were very pleased with the way it turned out last year, so they cut a check again this year for us. One thing they did want us to do this year is hold a public event/seminar/boat show prior to the tournament. They want to inform the public of what exactly bowfishing is and how were helping, which is a very good thing for the sport.

Here is what I have planned. I will get how ever many boats I can to show up early for the tournament, hope to start the seminar around 12pm or 1pm. Basically just need teams to hang out near there boats and answer questions that people have about your rigs or the sport. We will try to have some youth bows and foam targets for the youngsters to shoot also. There should be alot of interest in this, since the last 2 years people have flocked in to check out these "alien" boats.

The format this year is a little bit different than the past 2 years. This year it is a DUAL format, a Numbers and Big 10 tournament. The entry fee is $150, and this gets your team in BOTH the Numbers and Big 10. You CAN NOT pick just one format, you pay $150 regardless and your automatically entered in both divisions. We hope this helps on the fuss over numbers versus big 20 format.

Here are the rules/regulations:

-The tournament will be held at the Reelfoot Lake Tourism Council parking lot next to the spillway (same place as last year) this includes take off and weigh in.
-It is a 12 HOUR tournament, take off will be at 7pm and weigh in will be at 7am.
-There is a mandatory pre tournament meeting at 5:30 pm to review rules/regulations and answer questions
-We will be cooking food again this year for the teams, we plan to do Boston butts this year, and I may have some Bighead/Silver carp fried up for you guys to try. We will try to eat around 4pm-4:30pm
-The REFUGES are still the only RED ZONES, unless further noted.
-It is a trailering tournament, you can launch at any ramp on the lake.
-There will be no catfish counted during the tournament, you are welcome to shoot them but must keep them separate in a cooler for yourself.
-Shad will not be counted during the tournament.
-Your BIG 10 may not consist of more than 4 GRASS CARP
-Fish disposal will be provided

This is an awesome lake to shoot at this time of the year. Last year there were 2 state record fish shot during the tournament. We really hope to have another good turnout and great weather again this year. If you have any questions just post them up or PM me and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks!

Sureshot we will be over Thursday night to start scouting so we will come out early and help out with what ever you need I will also bring a couple of youth bows that are set up for the kids to shoot and if some adults want to shoot we can handle that to. Just let us know what you need

There are places on the lake that someone could throw out a casting net or dip up 100's of shad and easily cheat. Plus they would be very easy to pack in on ice, much easier than gar since they take up way less room. Shad are not counted in any of our tournaments, rules we set 3 years ago. Never had any complaints until now.

not understanding the fact that if someone was gonna cheat,it will happen no matter what kind of fish are counted.i guess its easy to point the finger at shad since no body really targets them except the guys who can hit them, and we already no who they are.you would get more number shooters in your tournament if you opened the shad count up because it is a legal fish to shoot and add to the numbers if you guys arent scared.just my 2 cents.
