I don't care how big it is, how the hell do you justify 14,000 for a damn deer... hell I won't even pay $125 for a non-res turkey tag and that would be a sure thing, my parents live down in IL and have a flock of 16 turkey's that walk right up their back yard 3 to 4 times a week... but I still ain't payin $125 to shoot one.

but you will pay for gas money in your truck u could use cookin oil for free… to each is own...

Ok i dont know nothing about deer hunting... Whats a cull buck? Why does he have to pay 14k? I wanna know so I can laugh at this guy also!

I can buy a resident tag, how 'bout you give me the hook up???

oops thats funny the guys goes you shoulda just said you missed lol

Cull buck is a lower quality deer that you want removed from the herd…he shot a breeder buck aka trophy buck…
SO he shot a big deer instead of a small deer? that buck wasnt supposed to be shot no matter what so he had to pay extra?

That buck would've been on the hitlist for a client, these guys were invited for a lesser quality buck for free
OHHHHHH.... OK! So basically its like If I got invited to go deer hunting on a deer farm for free but they told me I couldnt shoot a trophy deer bc im not paying for it but I cant shoot a little ****-poke deer for free. I shot the monster instead so they get pissed off and make me pay for it. Ok gotcha

By the time I buy a diesel truck and the equipment to refine cookin oil it'd be well beyond free... guess I'm just sayin I don't see what makes a deer worth $14,000...

Sorry bud, got a brother and two huntin buddies that still live down there. The birds will be hunted.

Exactly, sucks to be that guy... but then if he truely couldn't tell that deer from an 8pt he don't need to be out huntin.

hahhhaahahaaha classic! sux to be that guy

Thats sad that what hunting has come to.I could kill a Grizzly for that
That's exactly what I thought when they said 14k for a whitetail. For that much money you could damn near go to Africa on a game hunt. Doesn't surprise me though, when I was working the taxidermy shop in Texas a guy from Dallas came in with two deer we wanted mounted, one his and one his wife's. Said his wife's cost him 5k and his cost 8k, and both were about 140 class deer. Blew my mind, where I'm from you can take deer like that on public or walk-in land with an over the counter tag if you put some work in. Even trophy muleys aren't that scarce out west. But his check to the shop cleared so all in all I guess it doesn't matter. :D

But that's kinda off topic..regardless, carpe has a point, if you're not sure of your target you don't need to be shooting.

Its gotten really bad.Out west here most of the hunting rights on the ranches have been bought up for many seasons to come. The ordinary guy cant compete.I have a bud that gets $40,000 for big Mulies!!

That's unreal. There are a couple outfitters in my home town down in the KS sandhills and down in Barber county that do week long hunts everything included for something like $5500 and I thought they were crazy for charging that much. $40,000 for a deer, even if it is a record muley, is unfathomable to me. Sounds like your buddy's got a good gig going for him.

Yes,it is.They are record class bucks though....still the books dont mean squat to me,especially if you have to "pay",your way in.
