just got back from the fish and boating committee meeting regarding the ban on lights on boats. Me and Fozzy both spoke at the meeting and they were EXTREMELY receptive. They passed the law but worded it to EXCLUDE us. We got copies of the law as it is to be enforced by the COs. This is what the COs will get regarding the law word for word............

"The following activities are not restricted or prohibited by the docking lights regulation: Officers shall not initiate an enforcement action for violation of the docking regulation based on these activities:

The use of fixed or hand held lights generally facing downward into the water to illuminate certain species of fish that may be harvested by bowfishing anglers."

This went in our favor...thanks Bill for bringing this to everyones attention. They really do take into consideration all the public comments that were sent and they are generally very positive on bowfishing.....

I like to give a big THANKS to Fishstick traveling from NJ to attend this meeting with me!

Everything went well as planned!

Now lets get this river thawed out and lets start bowfishing!!!!!!

I would print a copy of the attached files for safe keeping. Please remember if you have any issues with ANY WCO....get their badge # and call harrisburg!

And one final reminder...we will probably be "watched" and citations will be issued if we do not follow these guidelines. Remember to read the navagational rule change ... first page of the attachment.

I repeat...do not run down the river/lake with the lights on. You may only have the lights on while you are in the act of "BOWFISHING" (along with the guidlines found on page one of the attachments).

another thing they were pretty ADAMENT about is the "angle" of the lights. They DO want to see them pointing downwards and i think if you are stopped the COs will probably be looking for this....i have a couple on my boat that i will be making slight adjustments to.

Nice job! Hopefully we won't have to worry about somethin like that comin to bama anytime soon.
you probably wont but this could have easily snuck thru and got passed WITHOUT the bowfishing exemption if it wasnt for the vigilance of Fleasimbeck who saw it being proposed early enough to give us time to generate letters and get to the meeting to be heard. Really pays to keep an eye on the agendas of meetings in your state.

Thanks fishstick and fozzy bear for attending the meeting. Thats the way to show support for bowfishing.
Fozzy bear I sent you an e-mail.
Thanks also goes out to any one who sent the commission an e-mail.
Now if the ground hog is right, we will have an early spring and get rid of all this snow and ice.
Thanks again, Bill
