If you have it down to bare aluminum then you have to put a good sealer on it before you do anything else.I would recomend a good EPOXY sealer or primor first then you can spray what ever you want on top of it. Just because its a self etching primor doesn't mean it will bond to aluminum. If you don't have any spray guns i would see what your local body shop would charge you just to seal it.Just remember that prep is EVERYTHING!! If you get lazy here you will fight the paint till the day you sell the boat.

I would say anything out of a rattle can probly won't last very long.Spend the money for a good sealer and then do what ever you want as far as paint. You could always do a truck bed liner on iy also.Just make sure you rough it up really good before you put it on.I'm talkin 36 to 50 grit if you want it to stick.

Zinc chromate primer will seal the boat and be just about bullet proof. You can get it in a 1 gallon can and if you have a spray gun you can dilute it just a little and spray it on.After that you can topcoat it with any paint you want.1 gallon will be more then enuf to cover your boat,I done my 20 footer with 2 coats and only used 1/2 gallon or so.You should be able to get it at a paint store, its a little pricey.

Thats the stuff,i honestly don't know if you can get it in black. When i worked in a machine shop where we built for the government we always had the yellow and when i ordered i just told the guy i wanted zinc chromate primer and got the yellow.Didn't know i had options.I topcoated mine with 2 coats of durabak paint.
