Self etching is the key, an LOTS of degreaser

 

Yea I planned on using the self etching primer. I'm looking for brand names that are good products. Once I spray with the self etching primer, what type/brand paint should I use to top coat it?

 

They have really good boat paint at Falders here in Kentucky made by Majestic out of Columbus Ohio in olive drab around $27.00 a gallon you can put 3 coats on with one gallon 18 foot and you use a 3'' roller it last for years and years just like what come on a boat new.

 

Starting my 4th year with rattle can paint & a coat of clear and it is holding up great.

 

How much do you want to spend? Its hard to beat AWL GRIP but it gets pricey very fast because there are so many parts

 

I just want a basic hunter green paint on the outside. The inside I'm more than likely going with sand colored Durabak or something similar to it. I would rather not spend too much, cheaper is better! But I know how that goes, you can't get quality without dropping some cash!

 

bed liner is the way to go!

 

when I needed to do some painting on my boat, I went to West Marine and got the paint. It was Interlux brand and the etching was the same. as long as you prep it right it will last. I need to re-due some painting, just due to the harshness of my fishing, and I plan on using that same stuff again.
