im going to be painting a boat and got a question for any of yall..

after the coat of acid etch im going wityh a gloss black (2 coats), then im going to lay some white decals, then top it off with 2 coats of tan. Then pull the decals then spray 2 coats of sealer. anybody ever done this????????

I tried the decal and paint thing once, it didnt work at all like I had planned, I would say have instead of using the decals have the sticker guy make you some stencils, PITA to put on, but I had major issues with the edges of the paint being "negative" as in lower than the base coat, It wants to peel quite easily as the bond in the paint is much stronger than the bond of the paint to the other layer of paint. use a stencil.

lol glad to see it's not just me who never knows what the hell mudfish is sayin dunno if the dude is like super creole or foreign or what but yeah self etching PRIMER will save you time and effort :tu: you'd be better off just clearing over decals.

just wrap it, less of a PITA and easier to change the graphics later if needed. I have a friend who does them if you want some quotes or something you can text me

thanks gb but ill NEVER wrap a boat. stuff likes to tearwhen you rake it down a stump ....wierdest thing lol
