It gets asked pretty often what prop do I need to run on my fan or what fan motor for a certain boat. Maybe by having a list of setups already being used we can create a better source of this information for people setting up new fans by putting all this info in one place. Post your setup here to help others. I'll start with my old fan boat. Add in anything else that I left out.

Boat size: 1648
Fan motor: 16hp Duromax
Direct drive or reduction: direct drive
Prop: Hascon
Prop material: composite
Prop diameter: 30"
Number of blades: 3
Pitch: Not sure
RPMs at full throttle: 2800
RPMs at idle: 1000
Comments about fan setup: Prop lasted about 100 hours before blowing up. Never had it in any limbs and was in open water when it broke. Other than that it was a decent prop for the price, but I would not buy another Hascon. Duromax motor sucked as well. Listed at 16hp but was nowhere near that in my opinion, however, for the money it wasn't a bad fan motor. It would idle decent for a single cylinder, around 1000 rpm. I also only had 41 hours on the Duromax when I sold the boat so not sure on reliability of it. This setup worked OK for my little 1648 but any bigger of a boat would need a bigger setup. You get what you pay for and this was a cheap setup.

Boat size: 1770
Fan motor: 44hp Generac
Shaft Size: 1 7/16''
Direct drive or reduction: 2:1 cog drive
Prop: Powerfin
Prop material: composite
Prop diameter: 62'
Number of blades: 4
Pitch: 12 in think
RPMs at full throttle: 3800

Comments about fan setup: Boat did great with this setup. Boat was a slick bottom with polymer. Boat had a globe fan mount. Only issue i had was wind. When u get blades that big wind is deffantly a factor.

This was my old fan rig.
Boat size: 1770
Fan motor: 20 horse Briggs "L" HEAD
Shaft Size: 1"
Direct drive or reduction: Direct
Prop: Competition
Prop material: composite
Prop diameter: 41'
Number of blades: 3
Pitch: 18 DEGREE
RPMs at full throttle: 2400
RPMs at idle: 500
Comments about fan setup: I set mine up by maxing the pitch out at 18 and cutting blades down to match my rpm. Pushed great and had a top speed of 6 mph. It would push through thick grass and push great with a load of fish.

Prop: Powerfin
Prop material: composite
Prop diameter: 53"
Number of blades: 3

Boat- 1872 plate boat with pods
Motor- 29 hp Kawasaki
2x1 reduction
Shaft size - 1 1/8
Prop- 57" four blade competition aircraft
Pitch- 18 degrees
WOT- 3500
Idle- 1050
This is my first fan. It pushes my big heavy boat pretty well. My reduction breaks belts occasionally but it uses the thin cogged timing belts so that may be part of the problem . I haven't ridden in many other fan boats but friends who have fished with me who have seem to think it does ok .

Boat size: 1748
Fan motor: 18 hp 4 cyl 4A032 military standard
Shaft Size: 1"
Direct drive or reduction: direct drive
Prop: Arrow Prop
Prop material: Laminate wood
Prop diameter: 40"
Number of blades: 3
Pitch: adjustable: No
RPMs at full throttle: 3600
RPMs at idle: 1000
Comments about the fan: The smoothness of this motor phenomenal. It runs on propane, and gasoline if necessary. I have a hose to the front of the boat, and a throttle cable. That way I can adjust it easily.

Time for a little boat..
Boat size: 1448 with pods
Fan Motor: 6hp Honda
Shaft Size: 3/4"
Direct drive or reduction: Direct
Prop: Arrowprop
Prop material: Wood
Prop diameter: 30"
Number of blades: 2
Pitch: ???
RPMs at full throttle: No Tach
RPMs at idle: No Tach
Comments about fan setup: Does great on my little boat. Pushes 6mph at WOT. Mostly fish 2 guys. With 2 guys and fish it will still push over most everything.
I will go bigger one day... still waiting on the Powerball:headbang:

Boat size: 1656 Mod V
Fan motor: 16 hp Duromax
Shaft Size: 1''
Direct drive or reduction: Direct Drive
Prop: Ultra Prop
Prop material: composite
Prop diameter: 35.5"
Number of blades: 3
Pitch: 16
RPMs at full throttle: no Tac
RPMs at idle: No Tac
OTHER: twist stick steering, teleflex 3300 throttle cable, 3/16 stanless cable w/ 2 turnbuckles. 040 chain, 40 tooth sprocket, 3" garage door pulleys, 4 4-bolt flange bearings.
RECOMMENDATIONS: wicks aircraft cable(better flex), aluminum Material over steel (this size of boat the weight difference would mean a lot). on fan turn table have a vibration absorbing bearing.
Comments about fan setup: First had a Hascon Prop, That Blew after 30hrs. 16hp is pleanty for a 16' boat or less. if i were going to build a fan on any size boat bigger i would go bigger and not recommend a cheap route

My Old Boat
Boat size: 1642 flatbottom
Fan motor: 16hp duromax
Direct drive
Prop: Hascon 3 blade 32in.
Pitch: not sure
Rpms at full throttle: not sure
Rpms idling: not sure
Fan pushed this boat great and could push easily on mud and gravel bottom. Was the perfect amount of power for a 1642. My hascon never blew up even after bush hogging a few trees and I had a ton of hours on it
