Alright this is for my flounder rig not my bow fishing rig. Ive been gigging with 2 sea striker underwater lights with the 200 watt clear bulbs for a while now and i was wanting to maybe check out the CFL bulbs cause they draw less watts. Can anyone tell me about the CFl lights if its worth the change or not im wanting to find a bulb that has the same about of lumens (3800). Any info would be appreciated.

Some local guys run 400 CFL underwater off a generator and do well. One boat runs four and lights up the world. I don't know where he gets 400W bulbs but he has his in water filter housings on radiator hose drops that don't break if run into anything. Pretty cool set up. I put CFL's on a flounder boat in Texas, but they did not last long. Very little pounding from waves would cause them to break. Switched to HPS's and have used them for last 3 years. Would not recommend the CFL's.

They make a 200 watt vapor tight that is pritty tuff. Had them at my old building around a 500,000 gallon fuel tank room. 4100 k, they were pritty bright and coated in armor tuff

I would love to go to hps lights but I gig whether its windy or not so a above water light does me no good cause of the ripple effect that give off. I stick with under water lights

So why not make a fixture out of clear PVC, mount the socket to a service cap and run the hps remote? Since its in the water, the PVC will not melt.
