quick question about wiring

ok so im going to be getting 2 400 watt hps housings built with the cord that plugs directly into the digital ballast,, and im going to have 2 150's on each side ,, now im not electrician so how do I wire these 6 light into a junction box so all I have going to the genny is 2 plugs? thanks in advance

You can use two surge protector strips (one in each outlet on the generator), if you want to keep it simple. 3 ballasts would plug into each strip.

I like to keep a plug on each end of my ballasts, so I can easily swap them out should they die on the water. No cutting and re-splicing of wires.

Make sure that you check the amp rating on the surge protector strips or it will give you problems later on down the road. It looks like you would have between 6 or 8 amps so I would want atleast a 10 or 15 amp circuit breaker. I had one on my boat that wasnt strong enough so I actually took it apart and straight wired it so that the breaker was bypassed.

Also I suggest that you get some of the child safety plugs (the ones that keep kids from sticking things into the wall outlets), so that it eliminates the possibility of water getting into the surge protector strip and shorting it out.
