I personally shoot off the shelf. I would put a hair or moleskin on the shelf. I also shoot Zebcos and Muzzy reels. I think you will like the quick release capability. I only shoot recurves, mostly because my dad makes them and they look pretty to me. All of my buddies like how on a quick shot you dont have to pull all the way.

i am worried about it being hard to swing and shoot if i shoot off just the self. what can i do about that?

i just want some way to control the arrow without having to hold it on the shelf...

I plan on using something like a fanman rest on mine..

The thing about a shelf that doesn't appeal to me is the inability to fine tune....i want to go recurve and spinner for speed and weight savings but still want great flight.....

how the heck do you fine tune one of these arrows do you put it on a spine tester and and then start cutting the shaft or if its to stiff start adding weight to the front of it because thats how you tune a arrow to your bow...... and also you have the same flexibility with off the shelf as you do with any rest out there you can build up or remove any side plates to increase or decrease the spine of the arrow

Trust me, you don't have to pull a compound all the way back either. :)

I know its not a WB but hey, it cost a dollar. Used it all of last and never had a single problem.

That is awesome. ******* engineering at its finest. This is one of those things I look at and say 'why didn't I think of that?' I am certainly not trying to take business away from the site sponsors, but this looks like a poor-man's QD if I ever saw one. Not full containment, but 90% containment should be about good enough for anyone.

Lol to each his own I guess. I still don't understand why someone would want to take the built in shelf...made for shooting off of and add something to it though. Since the beginning of time to the present day it is still being done with fantastic results. How fast do you really need to swing on a fish, deer or duck? Keep it simple and learn to use it in that form...yeah yeah that's more than .02 I know.

I agree with ya.. but for bowfishing I do see how a vertical side on the shelf drop off would be useful!

Just rig it up and start shooting it off the shelf, you might be surprised at how quick it will develope a natural feel. I shoot a old bear grizzly with a spinner about half of the time. Shoot it for a little while before you put on a rest!

all i hunt and bowfish with are recurves and longbows. the arrow will stay on fine. just got to cant the bow a little.
