remote ballast box question

ok I am running six hps lights, out of my remote box I am wondering if I can run six hot wires but run all the commons together off each ballast so I only have 7 wires coming out of my box. Or does everyone need to have there own common coming from it's own ballast?

YOu cannot share any wires from your ballast to your fixture. You will need three wires going to each fixture. Black, white and a ground.

You could share the common and the ground but not the hot from ballast to light. Drawback is the common needs to be large enough to handle your total load when wired this way. If you run each light seperate you can use common/cheap 16/3 cords from ballast to bulb.
