Don't use wirenuts.
Bolt-and locknut- every component in place.

i am doing it for 8 150W HPS lights---------do i need a fan in the box to cool.......my buddy has 4 laptops that don't work that we could pull one of the fans out of

 

Laptop fans won't be 120 volt.
Here's one with [2] 1000's and [2] 400's.

 

My does not, but it does has a shield between the ballast and caps.

the mounting all the stuff will be easy part...running the elec will be alright..its just all the switches and what not...

Alright, guys help me out here, what are these boxes for? Sorry for the dumb ? but I know nothing about wiring.
Do you run the wires from your lights to the box the run a cord out to the genny?
I just bought some 500 watt halos and need to know how to set them up.

No remote ballast for Halos, it for HPS or MH.

 

Anotherred what size caps are you runin on those 400's??? are those 1000w hps caps???

 

400's come with caps. The ballast kits you ordered should already have what you need with them!!

 

were are you guys getting your switches and power bars and fans at?

 

just finished mine tonight but it is not nearly as neat as all yours lol

 

yeah they did i just didnt kno if the 1000w cap would lower the amp draw from 3.8a lower but obg explain that i wont work

its to keep the weight and stress out of the lights and the front on the boat..

 

Yes.
My ballast box has one set wires from genny, and then 3 set wires going to each fixture.
With switchs to turn lights on and off mounted on the box.
