Not a removable light rail but may help you with wiring idea! I run 10 (4 left, 4 right, 2 top) halo's with 225 Ultra bulbs in them with an Iota 55 power inverter of my Champion 3500/4000 genny.
All the lights are hard wired into 3 switches from the switch junction box I ran 10 gage stranded wire (was generator power supply cord for a 50 amp service) with a 30 amp 110 RV plug on it. Then I plug the Iota Power inverter into on of the other 15 amp duplex receptacle.
Everything runs fine, when I want to take the deck off I just role the cord to the genny up, unbolt the deck and lift it off! All the lights, switches, and wiring stay attached!

I dont have a picture at the moment but on my 1448 jon boat. I ran about a 6-7' piece of extension cord out of the 150 W/HPS lights and put male plugs on the ends. I then ran a heavy ass wire that was plugged into The 30 amp RV plug and just ran the wire to a homemade 6 Plug junction box. That way when i wanted to duck hunt or fish i could just unplug the lights and lift the raised platform off. For my needs it works incredibly well and stays dry because its under my platform.

My genny is a 4000/3500
yep most of Champions are 3500/4000 or 4000/3500, same thing. 3500 constant, 4000 serge! But to be safe and not over work the genny you should draw no more then 80% of the constant wattage, in this case 2800 Watts.

I have a 1754 gator trax mud boat and was wanting to start looking at getting my lights ready to go and was wondering what kind of setups yall are using. I need it to be removable so I can bass fish off of it also. Also I wasn't planning on making a raised deck I was going to extend my front deck back a lil further. Thanks for the help in advance.
I am working on a winter project boat build including removable light rails. I constructed them out of 1/20" thick 1" square tubing. Due to thickness I was able to bend to conform to boat dimensions. The bare rails weigh less than 4 1/2 lbs and have the strength needed to support my weight. Photos are included in that thread. Boats - Winter Project - Dedi

Thanks for the information guys! I can't figure out how to post a pic of my boat but it is an AlumaWeld/Xpress H56 (18 footer) with a Bob's 6" jack plate and a Mercury XR6 150 HP outboard.
My price range for light set up is $750-$1000. My wife is buying me a Yamaha EF2400 generator for Christmas. I want a light set up I'll be happy with for a while.

I like that set up hotrodderscott! That's kind of what I had pictured in my mind on building the shooting deck.
Thanks, thats my 1648, I just bought a G3 1860 I am also looking and doing research for my next light setup. going to extend the factory deck on the new boat and just add the light rails for now. Looking at going with 2-250 hps in front and 4 or 6 - 150 hps on the side, but guys have also told me just to go with 4 - 400 hps. Im just undecided at this point.

For that you can do 4 400 watt HPS's with lumatek digital ballast and custom light housings.. You will love it!!

I figured out the picture thing. Those are pics of my boat before I tore it down. I'm extending the deck to the console and durabaking everything. Next comes the shooting deck and light set up.
Thanks for the input KY Bighead, I'll look into that. Who would you recommend ordering something like that from?
