Just something I noticed that I never knew the other day till I got one of the cheap rods that screw into a reel seat if your shooting slides with a spinner you can't draw back without the arrow popping off the string if you don't push the button
When I used to use a reel, I liked the rod extension. It seemed I had more control on a retrieve. The benefit of an arrow coming unnocked if a button hs not been pressed is cheaper than a new reel too.
If I am starting a newbie out with my equipment, I recommend using a rod extension to save my reels! A rod extension can always be taken off if you don't like it. It's not a bad idea to keep one with you on a boat for the aforementioned newbie trick.
