Hey has anyone tried out the versa max by chance on here? Also does anyone own or shoot the remington 887? I'm going to sell my browning citori because I barely use it and buy a new waterfowl gun which i will use every weekend so i wanted to hear what you guys thought about those two guns. Im considering those two and the SBE II, which i know how bad ace the SBE's are so i wanna hear about the other two...

I have the benelli SBE and the new super X3. The Sbe 2 has a lot of issues. There are three people in our Duck Club that have them and they are nothing but problems. Mainly the problems are that it always thow hot loads and it jams. Plus the butt pad is just a pop in and it always falls out. The shock spacers fall out aswell. The SBE is a bada$$ gun I love both of mine. The SuperX3 is by far the most superior shotgun I have. I love the feel and the was it just throws up to your shoulder. Take your time and look for a SBE 1 if thats what you want. A good used one will run you about $850. I would look for one made by H&K. Most of them hold the sleeper shell. Good Luck

I looked at the 887 but when you hold it and feel the action it feels cheep. Also heard that Rem uses a thinner steel for the barrel because of the Poly coating...dunno how true that is though. Got a buddy who shoots an Extrema 2 and that thing is just plain bada**. Hands down the most comfortable gun I have held. I am going to buy one this summer.

Haha man me and Chad both shoot them with no issues, bought mine used for 350 otd
The 887? Like I said though, I just didn't care for the way it felt in my hands, and I dunno about the barrel thickness being totally true. I didn't think to look that close when I checked it out. I do know of guys who have them and love them, so I don't want to make them sound bad.

I had a Stoeger Uplander in 12 gauge. Two Black Cloud chokes and 26" inch barrels. That thing was a duck killing machine...the shorter barrel length made for awesome shouldering during jump shoots and the chokes made for a good blind gun too. I loved that gun. Problem was, everytime I pulled the rear trigger, the front trigger would smack into my index finger and break the skin open. The trigger guard would come back into my middle finger with enough pressure to make swell up like a grapefruit. By the end of the day, my hand looked like I stuck it into a lawn mower and I could barely grip the gun. I wish things could have been different between us though, I loved that gun. It was/is fantastic for light loads and dove hunts.

I know the E2s are awesome guns, unfortunately when I was looking at them there was something about it that just didn't fit right for me, which is strange because I have its grandfather, Beretta AL-2 and it's perfect. Can't believe they changed that much, but they changed something just enough.

As far as the Stoeger I can't speak for the 2000 but I shot my buddy's condor o/u and was not impressed.

all the versa-maxs are being recalled back to remington something to do with the hammers in them. read it last week in a shooting mag.
yea i heard about this... it was something to do with a piece they let another company build for them that turned out being to short which called for the recall and now they have that problem fixed and are supposed to be back on the market.. at least from what i heard from the remington rep in dallas
