There is also a 48w that has the same housing as the 27s. They're 24v but I use a 20amp 24v power supply to run them off a genny or a flip of a switch to run them off batteries

I thought about the convertor option all day and then I found some 50watt 110v warm white ones today and after some research I found that they are manufactured by the same people that everyone else gets theres from but a good bit cheaper. I ordered 8 of them and they will be here the first part of next week. If they are not what they advertised then Ill just send them back. I appreciate all the advise and still want to see the results from the green tint and the orange tint that everyone is trying out.

the wife & I went out tonight, it seemed the orange amber film was not too bad, most of the pictures were taken in 3 1/2ft to 4 1/2ft of water, the 1/2 covered lights were horrible, was like they were w/o the len film on them straight white almost. But heres some pictures of the fully covered LED's with the orange amber len film. Front lights 40W LED Floods, side lights 27W LED Floods, all connected 12V

I notice the orange amber lights fully covered didnt attract as many bugs like the other light without the orange amber film. The pictures didnt do much justice. I thought they were pretty good. better than the white. I think IMO the orange tint could be less solid in color and more transparent. I'm on a search for the orange amber that is more transparent.
fully covered with orange amber film

with only 1/2 the lights covered in the len film

I have always ran HPS lights and after a ruff weekend on the potomac I think that Im done with bulbs. I've spent a few days looking at the many LED options and checked out Custom Fitz, Seelite and the ones that are offered on Amazon. What ever I get I want to run off of my geni. I have read a few threads but still like to hear as many opinions as possible. I think the 50w warm whites are at the top of my list right now. What do you guys think of those and where is the best deal for them.
hello you can also opt for HID lights. I have got them and they work pretty well. Leds are not bad choice either. Good luck for purchase:wave::wave:

I found a place on ebay that sells light yellow headlight tint, I ordered some it looks to be more transparent than the yellow headlight tint I aready have.

heres the more solid yellow head light tint.

I'm going to remove the orange from my lights this evening & try the transparent yellow on the water this week-end

As soon as they have LED light that put out at least 30,000 lumens at 400 watt I am staying with my digital ballast.
My 2 cent plus tax make 5!!
PS and do not cost a 1K!

Arriten !! Thanks Don. I like the idea of orange tint not attracting as many bugs. Makes sense, orange or yellow light bulbs don't attract as many bugs.

mr. kuger, can you post where you got the 50 w - 110v from and $ ??
Sorry bud,my 50's are 12 V,they are from the same place in China that ALL...everybodies lights are coming from,I got mine last year

I have some very clear amber, and some yellow ordered. I will do a side by side comparison as soon as everything arrives.

But right now I am very impressed with green. And that was side by side with a red, the light with the red film put off a very "warm/pink" light that was hands down harder to see.

One thing that has been stated over and over, and is worth stating again is that light WILL NOT penetrate stained water, water is "Murky" Or "Stained" due to suspended particulate in the water its self, no color of light will shine through an opaque particle better than any other color. The fact that some colors seem to be better for seeing fish is the human factor. basically how our human brain processes what it is seeing.

my theory about why the green looked so much drastically different is this; the bottom of the lake and the weeds are basically a brown/green color. when the cool white light reflected back from the particles in the water it came back as a contrasting color. my brain was easily able to distinguish the difference and therefor process the light coming back and "recognize" the particulate in the water. With the green light the light reflected from the particulate did not contrast the natural bottom color, therefore not giving the brain any ques to make a distinguishing factor between the water and the particulate, therefore "Allowing" you to see farther into the water. EVEN THOUGH, by putting the filter on the lens of the light you are by definition decreasing the amount of light that is shining into the water.

there have been studies in the aquarium industry for years about what light color temperatures make a water and look better to the human eye and the cooler colors (cool white/blue/green) always win.

where did you get your green tint from

Some people mentioned green works well and the amber or orange works also so why not try both at the same time? If you are going to try half of a color why not try mixing two colored lenses in a pattern like this.....

I like your posy, it really put cover value in to what we are try to achieve. Any pictures of the green tint on water why3zx?
