I gotta buddy out there that I go fishin with. He is outta the loop for a while since he is headin to Afganistan soon. I have fished the bay, james river, the chick and lake gaston in that area.
There are a couple more guys in that area but Im not sure if they are on here since we all had to reregister. Shootafish was one and deerhuntinwithdogs was the other. Aint seen em on here since the change over.
When I was out there with him we shot out of a 1872 with a flush deck. He has since got a duck water that I havnt been in yet. Alot of good shootin in that area.

i got a starcraft aluminum deep v that takes the big water really good and with the high side i dont think u would need an elevated deck all she needs is lights and genny
If you are plannin to do most of your shootin at night you dont need an elevated deck. You wont draft as shallow in a deep v but you can deff. shoot some fish. Bein from out there you prall know but watch the tides. You can find yourself trapped (been there done that).
Go get em brother

well sittin flat my boat drafts about 6 and a 1/2 inches so i think it will work out pretty good and yeah those tides up here can get pretty ruff i have only lived here about 2 years but have put my share of time on the waters and seen alot of people who cant read channel markers hung out to dry at low tide

I live right outside of Richmond. Last year was my first year bowfishing, but we fished the James and the Mattaponi. Never got into the numbers that some other places get, but we still had a blast. Last year, we fished out of a boat that a friend of mine 'loaned' me. It was a beat up 16ft Carolina Skiff. After a few day time trips, I built a deck out of plywood and 2x4's, mounted 6 500w Halos on it and bought a champion genny from tractor supply. The rig looked about as bad as it sounds. Never stopped at a single gas station that didn't cost 15 extra minutes talking to everyone that drove through about 'what do ya do with a boat like that?' This year, my buddy bought a boat that we are in the process of trying to rig up. It is a 2072 that will have a raised platform with 400w hps under it. I can't wait for it to warm up!

Also, there was a club on the old site that ran a few tournaments here in central Va. I am hoping to enter a tournament or two this year, just for fun and try a few new spots if nothing else. I haven't seen anything about it on the new site and I can't remember their name.
