This is a special thanks to JEGS. I had Summit racing parts on my previous airboat but ran into issues on a non-used radiator exchange when it would not fit in my Diamondback. At that point I took all of my business to JEGS for the past five years. I have had no issues what so ever with purchasing, tech support or returning products.

I purchased the Fast Ez-EFI system with custom Mallory 700hp fuel pump & regulator and all the high pressure system fittings approximately 6 weeks ago. I installed on the boat and have run over 40 hours "self-learning" and tuning. I have tuned in numerous boats & engines. In summary, after several trips to the river, patman and anahuac, i took the boat out for most of day last sunday tuning the AF ratios, accel fuel, tps and all the other items according to the tech support. I have a solid knowledge of the system after talking to tech support for a minimum of 15 times. I got the plugs looking good and all settings with the boat running great for well over an hour. Went and shot the tournament saturday night and after 2 hours, the "self-learning" system lost its smarts again and the boat runs like crap. Garsack knew I was mad halfway thru the tournament after spending countless hours on trying to save fuel and that I can not stand when a light is out on the boat more less the engine not performing. We won but almost missed weighin getting stuck on a little piss ant mud flat with 180 fish because the system fell off WOT coming across the mud flat to "learn". End of story - its coming off. I am sure someone will try to defend it but for a high performance BBC on a bowfishing airboat in BFE - NO NO NO!!! (I will post later on with all the details).

I called Jegs explaining to them to situation and asked if I had any options that I did not want to sell on ebay since the problems I had with the system (I expected that i was going eat $2000.00 since it was electrical & fuel had been thru it). I explain how we use the system and all 6 fualts i had with the system. He took one look at my account information and came back on and stated "...Mr. Hutson, we will overnight you a new one right now or issue a credit or anything you want to do..." I was shocked. They will credit my card on the system, fuel pump, regulator and the majority of the fittings. Now, that is customer service right there!!!

I know Summit would of told me to stick it from my past experiences so I wanted all of you to know - JEGS Customer Service rocks!!!

Dear JEG’s customer Service,
I want to thank the customer service department for excellent service!!! You ROCK!!

I am returning my Fast EZ-EFi system, fuel pump and regulator that I purchased in June as discussed with your technical service representative on Monday, 8-6-12 at 5:30 pm central time (I believe his name was John). I am a mechanical engineer who has built and tuned numerous engines with the last one being a high performance 540 for my airboat. This whole engine design was based off of the FAST Ez-EFI system and minimizing the build to 600hp target to allow for the system to be used per the Fast hp requirements. I completed the engine and ran it for 68 hours on a Holley DP mechanical secondary 830 cfm carb with no issues. I researched the fast system with several other airboat and car customers with positive experiences. I discussed the build with Fast on numerous occasions to insure the system would work on my highly modded BBC engine. I then purchased the Fast EZ-EFI system for the boat and installed everything per the installation instructions. I have run the system for approximately 40+ Hours allowing it to “self-tune”. I have called the Fast tech support numerous times following their recommendations with no success. I have a solid knowledge of the system after talking to tech support for a minimum of 15 times and how to tune the system for my specific application. I got the plugs looking good at idle, cruise and wot two Sunday’s ago. The boat ran great for well over an hour that afternoon and was ready for the tournament the next weekend. We took the boat out to a local Bowfishing tournament Saturday night where it ran great for the first 2 hours. After the initial 2 hours, the "self-learning" system lost its smarts again and the boat runs like crap – fluctuating idle, missing/surging cruise/low wot. This is the same issue I had been fighting since I first received the system. My partner knew I was extremely irritated halfway thru the tournament after spending countless hours on trying to save fuel & tuning this new system. He also realizes that I am the type of person who cannot stand it when a light is out on the boat more less the engine not performing properly. We won the tournament but almost missed weigh in getting stuck on a little small mud flat with 180 fish because the system fell off WOT coming across the mud flat to "learn". End of story - its coming off.

I have never given up on a mechanical device before, but this system is either defective or will not work on my airboat application for Bowfishing. Either way – it will never be installed back on my boat (I cannot afford to be in the backlands or marsh with alligators & snakes and have issues like this). The following issues are what I am dissatisfied with system and the reasons I am returning it for a full refund to the original credit card:
1. Floods on restart – have to hold pedal to floor and crank engine to clear (Bowfishing is a constant start stop procedure)
2. If O2 or injector duty error occurs, engine will not start.
3. If the programmer is not in your boat and you throw an error code, there is no way to reset the system - SOL.
4. Engine will not hold a tune after two 2 hours of Bowfishing at idle.
5. Cruise (midrange) would begin surging as the system self-learns resulting in 4-500 rpms changes with throttle in same position (this is after the system has 6 hours of learning time at different rpms – system seems to lose its memory and half to relearn itself after idling for so long)
6. Carb WOT was 4900 rpms – Fast EZ-efi system could never get over 4600rpms (no inj duty cycle errors)
7. WOT would surge to 4600 rpms and then after 30-60 seconds reduce to 4400 rpms leaving you stuck in the mud
8. Engine will not idle consistently
9. Engine idle per Fast recommendation must be 850 rpms /higher – this is too high for deep water fishing(originally told match carb).
10. TPS engine warm up temperature of 180 F is too high
11. The throttle would have a funny hesitation at transition from idle to cruise (1800 rpms to 2500). System would hesitate (not bog) until it hit a certain point and shoot out of the hole (has to do with the tps% transition after idling 2 hours)

I am sure there is something else I am forgetting, but as you can see these are not small issues with the system. Thanks you for supporting me with allowing me to return the system for full credit. I will be a customer for life on all my new builds. Thanks

Got most of the EFI pulled off last night and boxed up. Cleaned and installed the Holley 830cfm mechanical secondaries double pumper last night.

Tonight - install new Holley blue fuel pump and new regulator (just wanted to start fresh allowing these old to be spares) and clean boat. I did not install last night because wanted to buy some fittings that utilized the -8an fittings installed w/efi to allow for quick changing in field. Tomorrow test & shoot.
