Thanks for the help guys, now I just need someone to teach me to shoot the thing when I get it :cf:

i used to HATE spinners. but after actually fishing with 1 an gatting used to it, i couldnt go back to a retriever. and if ur worried bout forgeting to hit the button, it doesnt take long and ull be clickin that button wit ur finger every few seconds out of habit. and the drag is ur friend, thats how u get the big 1s in

I shoot a ti 20 with 150# ff on a muzzy seat and a homemade rod. Im up to 8 gg for the year with the biggest being 7 foot 1 and 154 pounds. Handled it fine. I used to shoot with the drag all the way down when i got started just in case I didnt hit the button. Now I set it to fight the fish with but thats personal preference. You wont see a retriever on my bow ever again. Not for NOTHIN!

I guess you guys are making me switch stuff up, but only on the Angler for now

You wont regret it. It does take a little gettin used to. Just put a rod on it and if you forget to push the button the arrow will come off your string and you wont shoot and you dont have to worry about tearing anything up. I use a "straight shooter" that I made. Its the same design just a little longer and works great.

ive heard stories of muzzy reels stripping out and being kinda junky????? that is completely only what ive heard... the only spinners ive shot is the shakespears and zebcos, any input on that??? sry to hijack 4 a sec

they probably do and you can strip out any spin cast reel but they're a lot faster. i shot retrievers until ole brady and dustin was telling me to switch and i never do the retriever anymore.

and you mght want to go ahead and buy 2 or 3 of whatever kind you go with and keep em spooled up, bigger fey tend to tear em up a litter faster and after I stripped the gears in one and didn't have an extra I always keep 2 or 3 back ups on board just a sugestion

Logan, they have pretty much got you straight. The other reels work too, but the Muzzy is hard to beat, and getting parts for them is probably the easiest too.

My best advice is to constantly press the button, I cant tell you how many times I brush the handle up against my leg or get it caught on my shirt or something and engage the pins... Now I press the button constantly between shots just to be on the safe side. Nothing like seeing a big fish swimming off with your arrow in it but no line attached.

Dont have your drag set too tight, keep it set low and let the fish fight the drag, dont manhandle the fish with the spinner...

dont ever touch the line with a bare hand when your hung up or stuck in a big fish. that chit will cut to the bone faster than a razor blade...

use that rod, alot of folks dont use the rods in the end of the reel seat, but the lifespan of my reels has greatly improved since I started using them. Plus they can work as a line puller too if needed...

you probably will break a few things here and there while getting used to the spinner, but be patient with it, in the end you will be pleased with how well they work, and in time you will rely on that bottle less and less.

Don't forget to hit the button but like stated once you loose and arrow or 2 you will remember to press it...or you could just tie to the back and you will never loose an arrow again...
this is not true!!!Not pushing the button is not what causes you to lose arrows....no reel in the world has the drag to handle that!!You WILL lose arrows shooting a spinner tied to the back and shooting 200 lb line....thats a good thing, its better than getting that mystery knot caused fly back into your eye!!

Also there is no way Zebco's or Shakes have anything on Muzzies....and Muzzy is the only one that gives to US!!!

I've got 53yds of 150 Tournament line on my reel and around 70yds of the 90# spectra line on another one I have been playing with, landed some big stingrays with that 90# line but man you better watch your hands! Landed some good GG with the 150 including a 7'6" 230# one and it did fine. Like having the extra line capacity so I can fight the fish out.

 with a straight shooter rod, and spinner tied to the back If you don't have the button pushed it pulles the knock off the string causing you not to be able to shoot, unless you dryfire your bow, If you forget to push the buttk. Or accidently engusge the pins.

.......right...even without a rod, tied to the back,no pushy button,no pully back.I meant your statement about not pushing the button, causing you to lose arrows.....thats not what causes lost arrows

I be wetawded....Were saying the same chit just a different way lol
....I figured we were!!!LOL!!

Not directed toward anybody either but we have to support those that support us,and Muzzy is the only Spinner Co. that does, beside the fact they have a good reel
